    No you can't

I don't see "American" on the extensive list.

There. I've told you "EVEN more".

Ball is in YOUR court now.
    Gee thanks.

I don't believe I ever said American language ever exited. Could it be you are assuming it on your own?

What I did say was my keyboard was set to American. Here in America we speak over three hundred languages. I don't think it rude or wrong to say its part of our culture identity.

No its set for American not English.
Hey Mr. Prepper ...... thought you might like to know the US has no official language. Look it up. ---> never mind, just saw you did that

So you're saying native American's spoke English.
Ummm... there were no native Americans. That's a name given to all tribes by the Europeans who invaded their lands. They are the Native Peoples, the rightful owners of what we call the USA.

FWIW they called the entirety of this land Turtle Island. Here in the North Woods an Ojibwe (Chippewa) reservation borders our land. I've been friends with many for decades. Learned a great deal.

The various native tribes spoke around 500 distinct languages.

Also, Native people prefer to be called by their specific tribal name. Ya know, most in the know don't lump us Germans in with the Polish or the Italians.

Not only did I learn that in history class in the early fifties my wife's grandmother is Cherokee I assure you I was schooled on that subject over the years.

Unless Illinois is not part of the US that all changed in 1923.

"The official language of the State of Illinois shall be known hereafter as the “American” language and not as the “English” language"

And your point is? Being your own link says "Many states now recognize official state languages (usually English, but two states recognize American sign language as an official language, and both Hawaii and Alaska recognize Native languages as official languages of the state). "

Maybe your not old enough to know the reason behind states adopting English as their own language.

Hint: printing material in other languages was a specific reason for states adopting a language of their own. Little if anything came from it because we all found out we are racist at the core.
