Has anybody else here tried these (found only at Aldi stores):
Current price: $9.99 for 4 5-ounce filet mignon, bacon-wrapped.
Or:
Current price: $2.59 for 1 5-ounce filet mignon, bacon-wrapped.
If so... let's compare reviews.
I'll start mine here:
When Husbear came home with these and told me the price, I was just a BIT apprehensive about what EXACTLY was in that low low-priced package...
THAT is why there's no decent meat in the stores. Well, that's part of it.
There's no decent meat in that container either.
I know, I'm a jerk but....
Do this:
Wait for one of those whole beef tenderloin packs to be on sale...for less than $8.29 per pound. That's common BTW. I frequently see it at 6.00 or less.
Pony up the cash, or go in with friends/neighbors. Slice it into slices and freeze if necessary (better to cook it).
That stuff you have pictured is 20% saltwater+preservatives.

I practice what I preach on that one. I don't do it often, but ...when there's a good sale...yep. If I can get the cash at all, yep. Packaged whole beef tenderloin. Got it for 3.99 per pound once. I'd rather freeze the natural loin (even though I think it ruins the flavor) than eat their 20% saltwater + chemicals.
