I'm glad my 1st Snow Wolf was the new 1.5. Otherwise I would have hated it. Solid mod all around.
I have the 1.0 version. Yes, the "feature" of always locking after however many minutes of non-use is indeed both silly and frustrating. I'm glad Asmodus got rid of it for v1.5. That said, I've adapted to it pretty well. I've learned to automatically do a fast 5 clicks when picking up my SnowWolf up after not using it, so the frustration is reduced to easily acceptable limits. I like it even more with the black silicone sleeve I bought on eBay.
I own six TC boxes, and although the temp control works fairly well on all of them, the vape quality on a couple is slightly anemic. Not dreadful, just not as full and potent as I'd like. Not so the SnowWolf, which provides a very robust, satisfying vape, even at moderate settings (400° F, 40 watts). Some people feel that the temp control on the SnowWolf is subpar, but I like it a lot. It's not complicated and works well in TC mode, as far as I'm concerned. I use it with a nickel-coiled Cthulhu RTA rather than an RDA dripper, so I don't have to worry about dry hits. I guess I should try a dripper and vape it dry to see if the temp control does its job properly.
OK, I just took a Derringer RDA off my iPV D2, put it on the SnowWolf, and vaped it dry. TC worked perfectly, steadily reducing the wattage until the rayon wick was bone dry. No message appeared on-screen (unlike the iPV D2, which announces "Dry Coil" in that situation), but the wick was undamaged. As soon as I refilled the well of the Derringer, the vape immediately came right back to full strength. I don't expect any more than that from temp control, so my SnowWolf gets an enthusiastic thumbs-up from me.
