They were minis, 8mg I think. Not handy right now, but nothing powerhouse. I think that it hit me because I've been only vaping for the past 3 months, and I think it hit her because she wasn't expecting to get a buzz like you do from a cigarette. All-in-all, it was a great experience.

I really wish that I could find a tobacco shop around here that would carry Swedish snus. I've got a scheme planned. I'm going to just get some Camel and give it to my still-smoking friends so they can see the benefits while at work or whatnot; then I'll get an order from Sweden and get them interested in that; then I'll hit up a liquor store owner that I know to start ordering it; and then I can just buy it out of convenience.

Most minis are 3-6 mg. 8 is considered a super strong mini; more like a regular portion. I can't finish an 8 mg portion; too much for me.

OK, I tried some snus today. (Thanks to a great ECF member!)

I've had it for a while, but have been waiting. My wife's been climbing back up on the cigarette count, but she decided she wanted to try the snus today. I did it along with her so that I could know what she was experiencing. All I have to say is WOW! That will knock the living *#$% out of a nicotine craving . . . at least for somebody who hasn't had a cigarette in over 3 months. She got quite a jolt out of it too.

Slight burning. We both loved the taste, but she wanted sweeter. She said it was very salty, but I thought it was just right. I've been prepping my mind to expect what it was going to be like, rather that what I might want it to be.

The only problem is . . . she still feels the need for the habituation. What about vaping with a snus in? Lower or no nic?

it's good to hear that you guys liked the snus.alot of guys/gals around here snus vape and snuff (some at the same time). your body will acclimate to the snus and the up/down rollercoaster nicotine thing will level off some as the levels of nicotine in your blood even out.Just go slow with it and you'll be able to feel when enough is enough.
welcome to snusville!

Thanks for the tips, Katya. I'll try them. As to vaping at the same time you're using snus, I've done that all along. At first I got hiccups whenever I had too much--just took the snus out and put it back in later when my body had adjusted. Works fine. Sometimes now I fall asleep with a snus in and wake up fully rested in the morning. If I wake in the middle of the night to pee I'll frequently take a couple of vapes before falling back to sleep. Aahhhhhhh.....

My next-door neighbor is about 70--has COPD real bad from smoking. Turned her on to e-cigs but she still had problems with wanting to smoke and EAT (she watches a lot of TV). Just turned her on to snus and she loved it. Says her desire to eat has lessened considerably and she hasn't had a cigarette in 5 months. Hasn't wound up in the hospital, either and that was occurring about twice/year in the past few years. That makes me happy, 'cuz she's a charmer.

I don't think snus is bad for your teeth, lynleestar. I've read posts from users who didn't tell their dentists/hygienists and from those that DID. In both cases, better gum health was reported as well as less tooth staining.

I definitely prefer the sweeter ones. Camel Mellow is my fave. I try not to use too many portions a day because my teeth aren't in the greatest shape.

One thing I do is fold the snus length wise. I don't really know if it helps with dental issues but I have had gum problems in the past and I never felt good about the snus sitting that low. When I fold the snus it keeps it higher up and well away from the gum line. It's just a habit now and only takes a few seconds to fold and tuck it way up into the upper gum. It stays in one place very nicely.

When this thread started a while back, it got me to revisit snus usage a bit... Vaping all day was really drying out my throat and eyes (low winter humidity no doubt contributed too). Dripping and driving and hauling my PV everywhere was getting old too. Lately I have been getting through the whole work day on 2 regular portions. I leave my PV at home all day now. This is very convenient and effective for me. If I leave a portion in for 1.5-2 hours, it seems to satisfy my oral fixation.

I'm getting ready to put in another order and was wondering if anyone had tried Ettan or Tre Ankare. They both sound pretty good.

Anyway, I hope your quest for non-smoking is going well Lynlee.

ettan is fantastic.it tastes almost identical to grov (pretty straight earthy tobacco) with just a bit of smoke added.
i haven't tried tre ankare so i'm no help with that.

Tre Ankare is very good, but I admit it's been a long time since I've had any so I don't trust my memory. It's a straight tobacco with a slight herbal background. Something along the same line is 01 or 02. They both taste the same but the 02 has a bigger nicotine hit. Another straight tobacco snus but with a bit of a nutty background. Both Tre Ankare and 01/02 are on the mild side. Would also suggest Roda Lacket. Kind of a dried fruit background. Sounds weird but it works well. Of course besides Ettan, which has been one of my favorites for a long time, Grovsnus is also very good.

Thanks for all the feedback! I am a big fan of Roda Lacket... The white portion is my go-to along with the Gottland snus that comes in the green tin (called "flader," I think the flavoring is indigenous elderberry flowers). Both Ettan and Tre Ankare sound great to me, and I an going to order some of each tonight.

Yepster, I generally order from Swedish Snus. Order Snus Online At Our Smokeless Tobacco Shop.

They ship from warehouses in the USA.

By the way, if the snus is bugging your gums, this new brand has a specially designed shape that is supposedly more comfortable. I have tried it and it is quite good. Less salty than some other Swedish snus, for those of you with a sweet tooth.

01 Original Portion, Snus

fwiw - that portion shape has come to be known as the "long" portion and several people are doing it now along with swedish match.

That's one of Northerners many incarnations. Getsnus is another one.

Get Snus at GetSnus.com. The US based online snus store

They are all the same place. There are really only two places to order., Northerner or one of there may incarnations or getsnus/snuscentral which are the same. Northerner has a US warehouse and therefore you have to pay state taxes when you order. Getsnus/snuscentral ships from Sweden so it is up to you to pay the taxes which you must declare when you pay your taxes........ and I'm sure all the good people here are dutifully doing.

Where you order has a lot to do with how high your state taxes are. If you live in one of the high smokeless tax states then ordering from overseas might be a good idea. Not that I'm advising anyone to avoid paying there fair share....... 'spiecially since our govment needs us more then ever at the moment..... but just saying......

Funny you should mention the flader (which I was curious about what it meant and got "flutter" and "elder" before I got "elderberry" so I suppose that may be acurate), when I first tried it, I hated it. I had one portion and it sat in my freezer for weeks. Then I was posting about the only snus I didn't like one day and afterward decided I'd try another portion and foubd it was actually pretty tasty. Go figure.

I'm also enjoying General White Licorice right now and take my time opening cans of Onyx so I make my supply last.

Stubby, you kind of confused me there. Did you mean to say that northerner owns getsnus?

Yes, they do. Getsnus was a separate seller pre-PACT but when the bill kicked in getsnus sold out to Northerner along with the domain name. Getsnus is now run by Northerner. Interesting that they sometimes have different prices, but only by a few pennies, at least last time I checked. I haven't ordered for so long I haven't been keeping up.

Another point of interest is that Getsnus used to be owned by Swedish Match pre-PACT.

That was a typo as I meant buysnus. Did some checking and I'm no longer convinced that buysnus and snus central are the same. Big price differences. Snus Central is a good deal cheaper. They do carry the same products and the site looks the same.... but not what they charge...
