OK - here's another:

WARNING-Smokeless tobacco is addictive (this could easily apply to coffee, for instance).

WARNING-This product can cause gum disease and tooth loss (hmmm how about candy and such).

What I'm getting at is a Big Time 'Double Standard' here. Should these type warnings be posted on all different kinds of products? I don't think so (looks like we're headed that way).

Bottom line for me is the 'crusade' against SNUS is SHAMELESS!!!

@C-kool - In principle I'm with you. Not only are a lot of these warnings excessive applied unfairly, but they really don't seem to help. When was the last time you met a person who didn't know smoking was bad for them?

The only spot I'll disagree is about the tooth-loss vs candy. Nicotine does cause blood vessels to constrict, which does FAR more to contribute to, and to worsen, tooth loss.

No loss of teeth with Swedish snus. Tooth decay and gum disease (and oral cancers) caused by smokeless is associated with American dip/chew. Teeth and gum problems come from the added sugar, not nicotine. Swedish snus is all natural and no sugar. Oral cancers come from the high TSNA's in American smokeless, which uses fire-cured, fermented tobacco. Swedish snus is pasturized using air or steam and has very low levels of TSNA's. Long-term studies back it all up, including the fact that any smokeless is safer than smoking. The risk of tooth decay, gum disease or oral cancers is extremely higher using cigarettes, not to mention all the other goodies like lung cancer and heart disease that smokeless has never been linked to.

Of course snus is no safer than smoking. I can't really get up and down the local mountain much more quickly and easily than when I smoked. It's not really easier for me to lift weights with a wad of snus in my mouth instead of a cig. I don't really breathe any easier now that I snus instead of smoke. It's all my imagination.

And I thought it was just ME (imagination is a wonderful thing). SNUS RULES!
