Hi ecf'ers :)

I've been vaping and smoke free for 45 days now! WOOHOOO

After spending quite a bit this month I was starting to get nervous that this habit is costing MORE than cigarettes :( so I made a document to keep track of ALL my e-cig spending. Its hard to believe I got all this awesome stuff... and have STILL saved money!

January:

Liberty Flights $62.97
OneStopDIYShop $43.71
Cignot $61.00
NicVape $66.05

February:
Ovale USA $65.00
US Plastic Corp $18.99

March:
OneStopDIYShop $68.54
Bloog $210.95
Liberty Flights $60.94
Ebay (eyeglass case) $14
MyFreedomSmokes $35.75
OneStopDIYShop $ 17.70
KickBass Vapor $40.00
Tasty Vapor $47.75
Perfumers Apprentice $11.00

Total: $824.35 But one half of the order from bloog was a gift to someone so -$105.

= $720

That's the amount for two of us (myself and my daughter which i pay for :?:) lol
So 720/2 $360 for 45 days is $8 per day.

Cigs are $6.50 here and i was a 1 1/2+ pad smoker which is $9.75 a day! I would have spent $438 on cigarettes for 45 days!

So even after ALL my purchases I have saved $78

AND I now have enough nic juice, diy supplies, batteries and chargers to last well over 6 months. And cartos to last at least 2 or 3 so the savings will really start adding up now.!

Well maybe.............. I have my shopping cart quite full at V4L right now :danger:
So we'll have to see how that goes......... I just love STUFF :D

OP's post looks like one of my notebooks lol

16 Months In I've spent $3300 and analogs would have been over $4000 by now. I have lots of mods n stuff to.

Holy cow, I read your post and I thought $4,000 how MUCH did this person smoke!?! Then I did the math thats only $9 a day, yep, exactly what I spent on cigarettes! I just never realized it was THAT much over such a SHORT period of time. Goosh, it really makes you wonder, what the heck was I thinking?? I could have paid off all my cc debt with that easily

OH well past is past and I'm not spending that much on cigarettes now :D

Vaping is definitely a front-loaded venture. I spent a lot to start, but my monthly costs now consist of buying an atomizer, whether I need one or not, and about 30 ml of juice, give or take. Occasionally I buy a battery just to stock up and a charger. I figured it out, I spend $20 per month. And I was smoking a pack a day so do the math. It's only expensive if you grow tired of your ecig, or just want to spend a lot of money chasing that perfect vape. I've been using a DSE 901 for 2 years. I know its flaws and virtues. When I'm convinced there's a better model, and I've used up all my supplies, I'll mkae the switch to a new model. Discipline. That's the name of the game.

In 14 months I've spent enough to have purchased a decent used car.

But, in the past three months I've averaged only $2.15 per day, certainly less than I spent on cigarettes. Yep, it's possible to save money vaping when you're not going crazy buying lots of purdy shiny goodies. And, if I needed to, I could vape on what I have on hand for a long time without additional purchases ... probably a year. I could give you an exact figure, as I've kept track of every cent spent. But, I'll not do that, LOL.

And, as noted by other(s), it's not ALL about saving money by not buying cigarettes ...
you're saving life.

OH, you still havn't bought any mods. Thats when the cash just FLYs out the door. Then you fall in love with a mod, and swear its your last one...

then...

they release a new version...

that is CHROME...

Oh well, how much is the going rate for lung cancer anyways? Is there really a price to be put on coughing up blood until we die. e-cigs should be a tax write off.

I can't believe that nobody has factored this in: As ex smokers we would have spent the money ANYWAY now instead of empty packs, a pile of butts and ashes most who have spent $100's (or more) on this hobby have a nice collection of toys. Which is much more valuable and cooler than what we were left with at the end of the day from smoking. Happy vapes and big clouds to you

Bump on that Ski, I don't even want to say or think of how many thousands I have spent over the last 2 year, its probably the same or a bit less but all those dirty dam smokes that I didn't breath in, the lighters, ashtrays, the odor in my homes, car, clothes, kissing without ashtray breath, it's all priceless, priceless I tell ya

Yeah, I think it's important to note that quite a bit of that upfront money is on equipment that hopefully shouldn't have to be replaced anytime soon. When/if you get down to just buying juice for a while, it should be much more affordable. That's what I hope anyway; I'm not there yet.

I'm probably about 200 buck in the hole right now, but I think I'm almost set for a while. My break even point is about a month away IF I don't spend anymore money, but that's not going to happen. I think I've finally found an atty I like, so I'll be getting more of those to have on hand as backups to the 3 I have. I'd like to get a couple eGo-T batts so I don't just have 2 batteries in case of failure. I've found a few juices I feel comfortable ordering in 30ml sizes (4 of 'em on the way), possibly larger sizes later. I do have a spare charger, just in case (Thanks Paula/pkj - you're the only one I've seen recommend that).
I think I've found a juice supplier I'm happy with so, a few batts, some atties and I should be ready to stock up on juice and not spend for a while.

I'm telling myself "No Mods for me until I break even" and even then I think I'll build a box mod myself first.

I've had a few people ask me "It's cheaper than smoking, right?" and I have to tell them "Theoretically, yes, but there's a lot of gizmos and gadgets to try."

Of course, I'm most pleased with my sense of smell coming back. Not smelling like an ashtray is a close second. It's hard to put a value on those things. Also, not having to pay the state of Maryland (unofficial state motto: If you can dream it, we can tax it) $2 a pack to slowly kill myself is very gratifying too.

Wow. I used the calculator, and it is the first time that I have actually tallied up everything I have spent on vaping so far. I won't break even for another 28 days. Fortunately I shouldn't *need* to buy anything else for several months after I do break even. The hard part will be not buying things just because I want them. :)
