How do you know how much Nic you were used to in your analog? I am noticing that I do good during the day with an 18/11 mg mix, but come evening I start feeling that lost/cloudy/irritable feeling that you get when you really need an analog. So I am trying to figure out how to make that balance and kill off that edge that I have gotten for the second night now.

I got my PV yesterday afternoon and didn't smoke an analog the rest of the day until right before I went to bed because I was feeling the icky ill need a smoke feeling. I really want to overcome that. The highest I have is the 24 mg. But that really doesn't seem to cut it. So how much nic is in an analog? How do you find out? OR is it one of the other chemicals maybe? I don't know, I have been fine since I got out of bed this morning until just the last few mins and grrrr.....

You can't really make a direct comparison between the nicotine in combustible cigs and vaping. I remember threads that identified the amounts in different cig brands- but that may or may nor be the amount in the smoke. i seem to remember ~1-1.5 mg/cig , but i could be making that up

It sounds like you've just started vaping withing the past two days- so give yourself time to get used to things without stressing. Your body may be telling you that it needs a bit more nicotine in the evening- keep trying the 24 mg in the evening and see how it works for you over time. It will take some time to get used to the lack of the other chemicals. For some it's very fast- for others not so much. It took me six weeks to switch over.

Cigarett smoke contains thousands of chemicals and nicotine isn't the only one you get addicted to. I started vaping about six weeks ago and never missed analogs but in my first few weeks I only used 24mg liquid. Now I down to 12mg and will keep it that way for a few months at least. I also smoke about a third more than I used to. Like Mysti says give it some time. Your body and mind are going through a lot of changes.

Vaping is not something that everybody can immediately switch to, you have to want to do it and your body can take a bit of time to adjust. If you're finding 24mg really isn't doing it for you sometimes you can try some 36mg and see how you get on with that for a bit ( i do recommend sticking to 24mg if you can though), whatever it takes to kick the analogs :)

It's hard to say how much nic intake is through ecig. Drop size is inconsistent and how to measure the nic you get from a 5 seconds drag. There's a list here of mg per analogs. Roughly Lights have 0.5-0.6 mg per cig so a pack contains about 10mg.
Keep in mind other chemicals in the traditional cigs that you are addicted to but they aren't in the ejuice. That's probably causes the withdrawal or craving.

It's not complete list but will give you some idea.

When I first started vaping I needed to keep a 36mg carto around for the morning. After that I was fine with 18mg for the rest of the day. About 8 days in I stopped needing the 36mg in the morning. The other thought that I have reading your post is that it might be helpful to start vaping the 24 mg that you have earlier in the evening and head the cravings off at the pass, as it were. Hope you find a solution. Don't sweat it though some things just take a bit of time.

Hang in there. We ALL went through our trials. I vaped soo much my first week I was (sick) of nicotine but it kept me from picking up that anny. Just think how hard it would be without them (e-cigs) give yourself alittle more credit for getting through the whole day. If all you had was One. thats pretty darn good. Eventually, if you want it, you will begin to hate the thought of lighting that death stick and jamin it in yer mouth. Welcome, and good luck.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the support.

Kissmint you make some good points, every hit be it analog or PV is not the same so the amount would vary.

Good advise on upping the mg earlier too. That may do the trick Springbird. I am going to try to do that tomorrow evening before it gets to that point.

I really don't want to pick up another analog from here on out. Giovanni you are so right, I have tried to quit in other ways and nothing has been as successful has the last 2 days have been, so I feel really good about it so far.

I didn't grab the analog either, but I did burn through one full battery and have it recharging. So glad for 2 batteries. LOL, I am seeing where I will be getting more very soon. ;)

Again, Thanks everyone! This forum is amazing.

It took me a while to get off analogs completely. I cut way back to maybe 3 a day at first. The morning and night were the hardest for me. As long as I was reducing, it was better than nothing. After my eGo came, pffft, those nasty things just didn't seem as interesting to me anymore. I did have some funky withdrawals for a little while. I haven't had any for maybe a week now. (It's been 3 weeks for me.) But, as previously mentioned, everybody has their own way they go through it. Keep us informed on how it's going - every story is so good to hear!

You're doing great ! Remember its not just the nicotine you're body craves when you give up analogs but the other chemicals in those analogs too that aren't in your e-cig juice. Just take one day at a time. Forget about trying to figure out how much nic you got with your analogs in comparison to your PV. When a major urge hits chain vape your way though it IF you can. Mix up your different 24mg, 18 mg 11 mg juice thoughout the day. Drink lots an lots of water. Be prepared that when all seems to going great you MAY be hit with a what feels like a major urge to smoke, more than likely its not a lack of nic but your body screaming for that analog to give it those "other" chemicals. Chain vape your way through it if you can. Whle I recommend avoiding that analog for as long as you can IF you do light one a day or two a day that doesn't mean you're not being successful with vaping. Many of us still have at least a few analogs after the first day we started vaping. With any luck that analog will taste horrible to you and thats a good thing if that happens becuase you can use that memory of how bad it tasted the next time you're tempted to smoke one. Good Luck!!!

I started vaping at 18mg and was still having cravings that were only satisfied by an analog. I got some 24mg, a Riva kit and haven't picked up an analog since. I now vape both 18mg and 24mg. 18mg is for use at home when I can vape freely (read: chain vape...lol) and 24mg is for when I'm in places where I can't vape freely like work or running errands.

It took me about a month to stop analogs. It was mainly because I was scared. I knew that if I didn't plan well, (i.e. make sure I had plenty of battery power and juice, at a minimum) and I ran out, or something broke, then I was out of luck. I don't know about anywhere else, but you can't run into a convenient store or a gas station and buy one and be set. Yeah, I could go to the mall and there they sell "Smoking Everywhere" e-cigs, at 100.00 per, and a 15 ml tobacco (High) is 28.00 plus tax...completely out of the question. So, I was hesitant to give up analogs completely. It has been 2 months since my last analog. and I have started doing mods and I am a complete e-cig evangelist.

The other day, I was driving home from work, and I knew that my battery was low, and I wasn't far from home. My battery finally dies, and I start freaking, even though I know that in just a few minutes I would be home with a fresh battery and all would be well with the world again. But a friend had forgotten his analogs and a lighter in my car. "screw it, I am having one"...I lit it, and the little bit of smoke that I got from lighting it was absolutely disgusting to me. Worse even than when I started smoking. I said, "How in the hell did I do this for 22 years!!" and threw it away. No more analogs for me. I just make sure I plan well. I have a 10 ml bottle in the car, I have one in my pocket and at least 1 30 ml bottle at home that I use to fill them all up with. I keep a battery in my PV, and if I know that I am going to be working late I will throw my spare in my pocket or even take the charger with me.

Now, I am going to be getting a passthru for work and the car and home and keep my battery model for when I need it. The bottom line is, plan well, and give yourself some time. For the first 2 weeks of vaping, I was the same way, I would have an analog when I first got up, after a large meal, and right before bed and vape the rest of the time. Then it got to where I would just vape heavy heavy heavy right before bed and put my PV on the night stand just in case I would wake up jonseing. I never did...

Now, after 2 months, I don't even want a smoke. But I am absolute cloud factory all day.

My rig is a mini rough stack from Madvapes and 36mg of whatever juice I happen to be vaping. Today, it was very berry from TopVapor (MadVapes brand) but I also love coffee and RY4 from places like innovapor etc...

I love the 48 mg juice too...for me, it wasn't about quitting smoking, it was about efficient delivery of nicotine, without dying of cancer. Checkpoint met, I win.

Good luck and if you need help or advice, let me know...
