Sorry for the attention grabbing title, ha. Although I certainly know better I forgot to lock my mod before putting it in my pocket. I sat down on the sofa - pushing the button in - and suddenly felt it getting hot. When I pulled it out of my pocket it was really hot and juice was boiling in my kayfun Lite plus. I set it on the table to cool down and then took it all apart to assess any damages.

What I found was that the isolators on my Kayfun melted just a little. The plastic sort of bulges out just a little and there are some cotton fibers melted into it. It metered out fine - no shorts - so I cleaned it and rebuilt the coil and it fires fine.

My mod - a smoktech magneto - suffered a little damage as well. The delrin plug that holds the magnet in the body came loose and popped out. It didn't seem damaged in any way so I popped it back in and screwed the mod back together and everything seemed fine.

However - a really strange problem has developed and I can't understand what's causing it. Every so often I'll press the fire button and nothing will happen. I press it repeatedly and still nothing. Hold it down and nothing . .ie . .mods not getting warm or hot . .just seems like no juice getting to the atomizer.

Then I unscrew the Kayun and screw it back on and it's all good again. It's kind of maddening because I want to test if power is getting to the atty but unattaching-re-attaching fixes the problem. I don't really want to pull my kayfun apart in case the isolators are damaged and then I can't get it to work again. I am on the "notify me" list for when isolators come back in stock at vaperev and then I will definitely take it all apart.

So my question is . . .do you think it's the mod or the kayfun that's causing this strange issue? I put a different atty on my magneto and so far I haven't had the issue - but it only happens once in a while and I have the non-adjustable center pin magneto so I'm still not totally sure it's my Kayfun. I only have one other mod I could attach my Kayfun to and it misfires all the time, anyway . .so that won't be much help. Any ideas on how I can test to figure out what's going on?

I actually might've figured it out. There was a bunch of burned juice on the Magneto's 510 connection - the Kayfun started leaking like crazy when it was really hot. I cleaned it out and so far so good . .it's actually hitting better now, too.

I think the battery is OK. It is rated for more than the coil can draw and there wasn't any short-circuit . .just tons of heat from the coil. It was a .8ohm coil, btw, and I had an AW 18650 2000 mah battery in. The battery wasn't hot itself . .although it had been heated up by the mod which was fairly warm (compared to the kayfun which was red hot).
