Just upgraded my snusbox (the one with magnets inside the cover to stick it to things) to 5 volts with a ptn04050 chip. One odd thing, with the cover on (the magnets are over the chip) it vibrates a little when I push the button. Kinda cool. Check it out!

I think I've locked down what the vibration is coming from. Apparently inside the chip is a coil (from what I can tell) that when energized is pulsing a magnetic field at the same rate that the chip pulses the electricity to jump the voltage to 5 volts. Kinda interesting really... It's like a tiny little pulsing electromagnet.

The batteries just passed the point where the chip shuts off because the input voltage is too low. The vibration stopped. Who needs a low power LED eh?

Scraped off a few of the words on the warning label of the snus can when I made it.
Warning: This product is () a safe alternative to cigarettes. ^_^ I love the irony too.
