Tested to 1.7ohms. Looks beautiful.

I even had exactly FIVE (5) youtube videos up, each from a different person, explaining how to rebuild coils for the pro tank and/or evod. I wanted to make sure I did it well, I guess :).

Anyway, like I said, it tested at 1.7ohms with the multimeter, it fires up well. The vape from it is AMAZING. The pull and everything is far better than I've EVER had from a stock/factory coil.

My question is, I saw on one of the videos, the guy mentioned running a flame to the kanthal wire before using it. I did NOT do this.

I happen to have a bad sinus cold right now...so I can't really tell the flavor of my vape too much.

With that said, is my coil going to not produce a good flavor unless I put a flame to the kanthal wire first?

Are there any steps taken to prepare the silica wick and the kanthal wire BEFORE I rebuild the coils?

I rebuilt the coil with the kanthal wire and the silica wick right out of the vapemail package I got today. Is that bad?

congrats :) the main reason for running flame over the wire is to take the "springiness" out of it.(wont try to undo itself)and to clean any/if any manufacturing oils off of it, as far as running the flame over the wick I think it has something to do with "cleaning" it, but not sure(I don't do that). I sure someone else will be along to confirm/deny this.

Other than not decontaminating and annealing the wire, you're fine... and although annealing is not that big a deal with fine wire, as you've demonstrated, ingerri is correct in that it improves the ductility... aka - reduces "springiness". ;-)

I don't do anything with silica wick either... so that's two. :p

My 32ga kanthal has a funny taste if I don't flame it first. It usually only last about half a tank so If I forget it is not really a huge issue. My 28ga kanthal if fine without flaming it but it also came from a different seller on ebay. I usually run both through a flame first tho just to make it a habbit. I really can't comment on silica as I can't stand the taste and use cotton.
