I figure it would be fun to have a place to post some of the silliness we all witness at some point or another in our local vape shops. Just for fun.

So I went to one of my local B&M's today to pick some things up and I figured I'd look into some new batteries. These would be in 20 watt box mods, so nothing fancy required.
I ask the clerk, "What do you have for high drain batteries?" We have LG and Samsung. Ok, what MAH are the, I don't need anything high current, just want something that will last a long time. Again, "We have LG and Samsung batteries."
I paid for my other gear and left without new batteries.

Well, I'd have asked back...

"Okaaaay, work in a vape shop and you don't know your batteries? I asked what the mah are on them. Are the LG HG2, HE2, HE4, 3000mah or 2500mah?? Are the Samsung 25R or 30Q, again 2500mah or 3000mah? Come on man, be part of the solution not part of the problem of potential customers having a battery vent on them, battery is number one on the list of the safety check list, it is the motor of any mod, if you don't know what batteries your shop sells and their potential as well as risks and can not portray this to the customer, find another teller clerk job at a convenience store would be more suited to you then." I then would have walked away like you did and not paid for anything, and if the owner had been there, would have educated him up one side then down the next on training his employees properly, sorry no excuse for this. I work in a vape shop myself, do not mind competition in the market, but when the customer shows they know more than the employee just grinds me wrong as the wrong people in the wrong industry and work place. I do not pretend to know everything but I try to at least be a bit knowledgeable on anything in my shop or I hear about within the industry. But really man there are some basics a vape shop employee should know, *just shakes head*.

In the four years I've been vaping and 3 years I've been working in shops, I can't even begin to start listing the crazy stuff I've run into in vape shops, I could literally probably write a novela or small youtube channel videos, funniest an stupidest moments I've seen in vape shops, or vape shop employee tutorials, meh...

I've dealt with this shop before, believe me, it's just not worth the hassle! The ONLY reason I was even in there was to get the giant Kayfun they had, these are hard to find anymore and it was $25. Trust me, anything said would have been better off said to the wind, and the wind probably would have understood more.

I worked in a vape shop for a year in Cincinnati. Of about a dozen employees, maybe three knew anything about batteries. My store manager didn't even know the difference between an ICR and IMR battery. (If I had anything to do with it, the store wouldn't even stock ICR batteries.) Lucky for our customers that all the employees came to me with all the battery questions.

You sound like me

Sorry........Last trip to a local Vape shop(I have never purchased from one) was to see how they were prepared for current Regulatory Actions.
As I was asking.......the OWNER/Operator interjected:
This mainly pertains to Shops mixing their own juice.

I lost it and started explaining EVERYTHING they were about to LOSE!

Got this Back

I'm going to go to my local vape shop in early August, just to see if the FDA raiders come in to close them down for not having a tobacco license. he refuses to get one and says he doesn't need it. My county, there have already been news stories saying the feds are ready to go on day one to shut down these shops.

I'll stand there watching, vaping away, explaining how they just signed the death warrant of the next smoker who was about to walk in here.

I've been vaping for over 6 years and have only visited two B&Ms, neither was a positive experience. Misinformation and exaggerated prices are not something I need more of in my life.
BUT, it is nice to have them if you want or NEED something right now.

I agree. :thumb:

Of course its cheaper to buy online, but there is still nothing like seeing and holding a mod or juice device up close and personal. How heavy is it, how does its form factor fit in your hand, how smooth is the threading? etc.

My sister and nephew are newer vapers, and on my sister's day off, we would all do a "Vape Wednesday" -- a road trip to a vape shop within 60 miles driving distance, just to sample new ecig flavors. Sadly, I believe I read that flavor sampling will be done away with after the FDA regulations go live. :( This was the best thing about a vape shop in my opinion, to try out new flavors before you buy. Soon we will be going back to the old days of picking a flavor based on its description, and we all know how disappointing that could be.

Hopefully you could go to a vape shop with a specific problem you were having with your gear and they could work out a solution. That's if the person you speak to actually knows their business. Unfortunately, not many vape shop staff are properly educated or knowledgeable to provide this, and are merely there to make a quick buck off of uninformed customers.

New York (no, not the city)
I rarely go to shops, but on occasion I'll stop by and browse. Since I'm a low-powered 'puffer not much seems suitable. So anyways, I'd gotten an origina KBox from a store's mall kiosk, and the KBox quit (the center pin gets stuck and shorts out). I went into the store and they hooked me up with a replacement. My topper at the time was a Plume Veil clone; I'd gone to great lengths setting that up with a single coil and closing off one air slot (the sleeves are incredibly tight). This guy takes the device from me, says "You need to open that bad boy up" and cranks it till both slots are open. That makes it far too airy to use with a single coil. It took me several minutes with pliers and a jar gripper to get it back to single airflow - that guy must have had the strongest fingers in the world!

If you don't understand another vaper's predilections, don't mess with their gear.

Which B&M was it? You, know, so I can avoid it...

PM me if it's against the rules to mention outright in a thread.

Don't use words like predilections around the average uneducated counter monkey.
You'll give 'em an embolism.

:p

And I liked my PV single coil as well (haven't used it in quite a while though).
Love the adjustability of that little bugger, but yeah... they're tight. :)
