There is so much information on here its a little overwhelming for a noob. Looking to purchase my first vape but am finding it difficult with so much information on here. any help would be appreciated.

I am a 20 yr 2 pack a day smoker and drive truck for a living so what im looking for in a vape is.
-durability
-long life
-easy to change batteries and carts
-good volume in carts
Basicly im looking to purchase something of quality which suits my needs would much rather spend good money up front and be happy than have to keep buying lower end units and waste time and money. (you get what u pay for)

KR808D-1 has really great battery life and produces a great taste and vapor. It's my favorite starter to reccomend but it's threading is not as versatile as a 510. So people will probably not say it but a 510 starter kit instead.

Next level is the Ego-t, but there's a new ego-c out now that improves the T's design even more.

After this level you get into the silver bullet, HeLix, LavaTube, bottom feeders Reo, monkeyboxx, etc...

Even higher is a Provari , I would reccomend it but you really need to find your flavors sweet spot first. Many people stay at 3.7V ~LR 1.5

I'm not one to really give all that info since I've only been vaping for 6 months off and on.. Tried the blu and hated it.. Just bought a joyetech ego-c and it's day 2 with the same battery, and it's still going strong after 3-4 carts. It was pricey IMO(79.99) for the kit but if the batteries keep it up I'll be very happy. I purchased from liberty-flights.com and have already put in 3 more orders for liquid.. Now like I said I AM NEW just giving you my opinion.. Good luck! 2 packs a day is crazy! If you do go to liberty there is a link on the top left for 20 percent off..

I would say eGo style when you're not driving and maybe some auto batteries for when you're driving if you don't want to be pushing a button. Autos are not going to last forever as they tend to only last a few months because liquids get inside. There are long slim 510 auto batteries out there that you could puff on a couple hours. If you get a eGo and 510 things are compatible..510 atomizers and cartomizers will work in both devices.

The only "quality" things out there are pretty expensive hand made..most of this stuff is made in China in probably only a few factory's. Really you just need a reliable vendor. I get all my stuff from MadVapes as they have good overall prices, customer service and shipping...

I cannot agree with this type of generic statement. A mini-battery model like this will provide 1 - 2 hours of vaping time. I don't think anyone would consider this great when there are many models that provide over 12 hours vaping time on a charge. The OP stated they are a two pack a day smoker.

You are wise in stating you would rather spend more now than go through the process of trying 4 or 5 different models.

Some people seem to suggest the same models no matter what the person states their needs are.

Being a two pack a day smoker, you definitely want a model that will provide warmer vapor and will hold a charge longer. I will suggest three options for you to consider:

Here are three suggestions in order of good, better and best:

Good:

E-Power 510, Riva 510 or Kgo. I like the E-Power because the batteries last a little longer (lifetime wise) and cost 4 time less. Stick with manual batteries for better control, better warmth and safer. These are all better than the much suggested eGo because they are true 3.7 volt models unlike the eGo which is only 3.4 volts. Not that the eGo is bad in this category but IMO, there are better alternatives. Battery life on a charge is about 5 - 6 hours:

e-Power

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - EGO E-Power

http://www.nwvapors.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1

Better:

5 volt GLV 2: with a 5 volt PV you will get long battery life (6+ hours) and much warmer vapor. The GLV come with a lifetime warranty and is built to withstand a bomb hit. Few models can match it's build quality:

Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

The 5 volt GLV3 is also a good option as it combines the GLV2 with an eliquid feeder system.

Best:

Variable Wattage Darwin: with the Darwin you can "dial in" your power settings to get the best vape from any atomizer, cartomizer and eliquid. It also maintains your setting automatically when the resistence of the atty changes from use. It also has "regulated boost circuit" technology to maintain your power setting even as the battery drains. Most impressively, it gets 21+ hours on a charge. It comes with a 2 year warranty (which is rare) and a full year warranty on the battery (which is unheard of).

Darwin: Nhaler

Another good option in this category is the ProVari variable voltage model.

Based on how you smoke, I would also recommend you start with eliquid in the 18mg - 24mg nicotine strength range and get some blank cartomizers to put the eliquid in. Cartomizers are more user friendly for a new person than atomizers and carts.

Good Luck

Note: Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

I agree with wv2win. Because of the non-proprietary batteries, the ePower is a better value, but be sure to add cartos to your order. You will not be happy with the carts it comes with. Boge 2.0 LR cartos are a good place to start.

This kit is also a good starter kit with a 1100 mah battery, although it uses proprietary batteries. This kit comes with your choice of cartos instead of carts. Be sure to add a Drip Tip, whichever mod you decide to order.

The problem with quoting that post is the box mod that is linked there isn't going to hold up long driving around in a truck..I have drove 18 wheelers as I had my permit when I was younger..didn't get my license because diesel made me sick. They will vibrate just about anything apart...

Really? I've had several inexpensive box mods and have dropped them off a roof and they still worked fine.

Since you seem to only recommend the eGo, regardless of what the OP states, how many different models have you used for comparison analysis?

Hey Northernshrink, and welcome to ECF!

If you really want to just get one PV and not go through all the trial and error of getting this or that kit, grab yourself a variable voltage Buzz Pro. You can fine tune the power to suit your needs, even in mid-vape. It's tough and can take a licking. NotCigs is a great vendor, and stands behind his product 100%. Use the coupon code "ECF Buzzkill"

I am 99.99% sure that this is the PV you want. No messing around. Just a good solid unit that works, holds a long charge, and gives you FULL control of your vape. Here is a review to help you decide....

I do a little trucking myself and I'm gonna do you a favor and turn you on to the toughest most consistant simplist device with the best support and customer service in the industry reosmods.com and you can also talk with others on ECF in the Reos mods sub forum. Do yourself a favor and get 1 it'll be the last PV you'll ever need in unfortunately if your like many of us you'll end up buying several (not because you need to there just the awesome)

Well I think the MadVapes boxmods are cool I can see by the case they wouldn't hold up in the world of trucking..how many 18 wheeler tires or transmissions have you changed?..I know I have helped change a few of those tires and even a couple transmissions on my cousins 18 wheelers. How many loads have you strapped or tarped down?..I have lots of them..I've put in a couple dozen V-8 engines in cars too and a lot of other things.

I recommend eGo style batteries from personal experience and research..the cost of them is inexpensive and they are easily replaced..they have decent made cases..the metal isn't going to crack like a $2 battery case and if you did break one it isn't going to cost you an arm or leg to replace..the batteries are not going to come out rolling across the cab of the truck..you won't have to remove the batteries to charge them ect...

I would have to believe, based on your not answering my question on how many models you have used, that the eGo and possibly one other model is all you have used. Based on you recommending the ego in every post I have seen, then all the vapers who prefers models such as the E-Power, Riva, GLV, Provari, Darwin, BuzzPro, Precise, Reo, etc, etc must have somehow missed how the ego is all anyone would need. But since it seems you have not tried other models, how do you come to the conclusion that the ego is all anyone would want?

Nowhere did I say that eGo's are the only model to use I gave my recommendation based on experience of it, from the thousands of posts I've read, user ratings and videos I've watched. A lot of those "mods" you list are overpriced and mass produced in China. A couple of those mods are hand made and might be cool but I'm not spending over $100 on 1 mod period and I wouldn't recommend someone else would unless they have money to burn. Riva is just a re-branded Joye..maybe with Riva spec stuff but it has Joye parts in it most likely made in the same factory.

E-powers look cool as they are pretty much a eGo style with a replaceable parts/batteries but they just cost too much..the switches look like they come out of an eGo and just a replacement switch cost almost as much as buying a new eGo. It may come down in the future but as long as the cost benefit seems too high I won't buy one. Also the reviews I have read are not that good.

No I haven't bought a ton of stuff since last June when I started vaping but I have tried a couple..I found what works well and have been using it 6 months and that's what I recommend for someone that is starting out. We are in the New Members forum. I might build some mods and try other things but even then I will still be using my eGo's...

...as a long haul, 2million mile trucker myself, I would say leave the eGo(especially) Rivas and Kgos at the vendor and go for something more robust and hits like a truck and that would be the 5v GLV from GreatLakesVapor...near indestructible with a lifetime warranty...to that, add some Smoktech 1.5-2ohm dual coil cartomizers or Boge 3ohm cartomizers...that combo will give you great performance, throat hit and vapor...other choices would ber something like the BuzzPro which is variable voltage and can use almost any cartos, the Silver Bullet which is a VERY durable 3.7v model and should be used with Smoktech 1.7ohm single coil cartos or Boge 2ohm cartos or the metal REOs which are also nearly indestructible.......

I think that's funny being as you just suggested two eGo knock offs (Riva & Kgo)
What's the difference between suggesting an "eGo type" and suggesting a Riva or Kgo?

OTR trucking has it's own set of problems, and personally I think a simple 10$ passthrough with a carto tank would be the most hassle free method of vaping.
