Hi, I'm new to the forum. I used to have an ecig from TECC which was ok but it seems the technology has moved on somewhat since.

I apologise now as this sort of question must come up so much it bores the regular users to tears!

I've read countless threads on forums about the best kit to start with & to be honest it's just confused me more with the shear amount of choice & modding options.

The winners so far seem to be the EVOD kit from epack at £29 and the pro kit from Nature Vape for £40. It seems that the nature vape kit is likely to give a better experience however what concerns me is how long the coils are likely to last? Last time I tried the ecig I had, it worked out much cheaper than smoking the rollies I currently do. What worries me is that although I know it's much better for me than tobacco I don't want it to end up costing me a fortune in coils every month.

Also, does anyone know if the EVOD kit would be compatible with the coils from nature vape?

Thanks in advance.

Tim

Hi and welcome Timbob. I have experience with the Evod kit and can highly recommend it, very easy to deal with and the coil heads last a good long time as well. I don't have experience with the other you mentioned, in fact I've never heard of it so highly doubt the other heads would fit the Evod. Could be wrong, been known to happen.

I have a ton of gear but still use Evod and Protank Mini 2 tanks a lot. You can clean them out, even wash the heads, dry them, refill with a differert flavor if you like, and vape on. My heads tend to last a good 3-4 weeks before I replace them but it all depends on how much you use them and what juice you are using.

Good luck!

Tim,

Do you consider yourself to be the type of person that likes to tinker or fiddle with things? Or are you the type of person that just wants things to work without a whole lot of mucking about? ("I don't want it to end up costing me a fortune in coils every month.")

The reason I ask this question is..... you have the possibility of recoiling the atomizers that you currently are tossing in the garbage. With the right tools, supplies and patience, you can save a bunch of money on replacement coils.

My wife uses the evod unit and I recoil her atomizers..... a small roll of 30 or 32 gauge kanthal wire and cotton balls go a long way!

Warmest regards,

Jim

I took a look at our kits and the pro kit seems to be a kit with variable voltage (spinner) battery with evod like tank.

Now the question is do you have to buy and get it quick?

You can get them much much cheaper online (overseas).

Read this thread on my recommendation. Here.

If you need more info, post here and someone will help.

Cheers mate.

The variables on how long the coils will last are quite exhaustive. I know what you are saying about info on the forums concerning what to start with and how to make it work best for you! The frustration and confusion can drive you mad!

I learned a great deal from visiting a vape shop and just listening/gleaning information from conversations at the counter.

How long the coils last depend on how much per day you vape, the nic content in the juice, the voltage you are shooting to the coil....blah, blah, blah.....this is where my eyes used to glaze over! Over time, you will learn what works for you and the set up you have.

So, you haven't purchased a kit yet? but are asking what you should lean towards purchasing?

For the record, the move to ecigs is spot on. I smoked real tobacco for 40 years and rolled my own for 25 of those years. It took me 6 months to drop rolling my own all together. Once you find the setup and juices that make you happy, the analog version will go away.....maybe not today, but one day! What ever you do, do not get discouraged on finding the setup that helps you enjoy vaping!

Timbob, the EVOD kit is a great starter kit with ego batteries that put out a regulated 3.7 volts through out the life of the charge and have both 510 and ego threading to fit a variety of popular atomizers if you wish to buy something different than the EVOD clearomizer provided (which takes Kanger EVOD/PROTANK atomizer heads - possibly the most popularly available heads) in the future.

Two things mentioned by other members that I completely agree with is 1) make sure it is a genuine Kanger EVOD kit (or you can opt for a similar name brand, but authentic is the way to go) and 2) a variable voltage (spinner/twist) ego kit is something to look into. They cost a little bit more but will allow you adjust your power going to the coil and in my opinion provide a better, more tailored vape and will grow with you as your taste, e-liquid, and vapor demands change. :)
