Well I wanted to quit smoking stinky's mainly for my health but also to save money. But the saving money thing just isn't going to happen I think with this new hobby. Since I started vaping a couple months ago, I started with the pro starter kit from Greensmoke. Then I quicky got wind of my local vape shop (Vaperoo) and bought an eGo V. Then a SS Vamo v2. Then I got a K100. Now I am hooked on all these precisionly machined mechanical mods so I got a Nzonic v1 last week but sold that right away after seeing the new v3's and bought a brand new brushed SS model from a dealer out of Australia. Great price BTW. And then yesterday someone locally was selling a limited edition polished v3 and I just had to buy that..... :)
Anyway that is my arsenal after just 2 months. I don't think it will ever stop. Waiting on a Chi-You next..... :)
Well at least hopefully I am getting healthier.

Been there and done that, but after a while you'll come to the realization that they all work essentially the same and have the same objective...to heat a coil and vaporize juice and then you'll ask, "Why?"

Luckily im beginning to realize this BUT, that smoktech Zmax at my local B+M is calling my name. It taunts me everytime I walk in there "C'mon Hill you know you want me" it wont let me be I'm gonna have to buy it just to shut it up lol

I started a money tracking app on my iPad for vaping, adding in savings from not buying cigarettes and adding costs for vaping related purchases. I did start with a greensmoke kit which ups the value a bit. 1 month in and I am £150 worse off ($220). I will have enough gear to last me the next 3 months though so I am not too unhappy with that.

I just took the money I would have spent on a carton of analogs ($60) and bought a Vision Spinner and Vivi Mini Nova and a bottle of juice for a little more than half the price. The wife, who still smokes, was complaining until I broke it down to her exactly how much money I just saved. Now I think I might have gotten through to her on the cost-saving benefits of vaping. Hopefully she is finally ready to stop being stubborn and make the switch too.

I just figured out all of my costs/savings from Jan 2012... but it really only applies to the last 9 months since my real last combustible consumed date. I'm up almost $600.00! Once you have a few nice mods, you hopefully will get to a point where you are happy. It's very easy to want every shiny thing that comes along, but with a little restraint you can save some money. :)

I haven't had the courage to compare what I've spent on vaping with what I would have spent on smokes, but since I'm still in the preliminary stage of checking out new devices and juices (which unfortunately means paying for them!), I can justify some of the excess spending and assume it will taper off, ahem, eventually. Plus, I do factor in reduced medical costs (my allergies and severe headaches have all but disappeared). Also I'm not spending as much time surfing internet shopping sites and impulsively hitting the "add to cart" button cause I'm too busy surfing ecig sites for information. So I guess the bottom line to date is "ecig expenditures are much less than (internet impulse purchases + OTC allergy/headache purchases + would-have-spent-on-smokes purchases)" Works for me...

This isn't really a saving compared to smoking issue.
It sounds like more of a spending issue completely unrelated to vaping if you ask me. That's what all these expense threads boil down to.

It took me about 6 months before I was money ahead with backups and a supply. I don't play the PV envy game and endless searching for Nirvana.
At the start I didn't even buy backups until I was even (eGo-C so the kit came with a "backup", I'm not crazy).

As far as health savings, a $15,000 colonoscopy and between $500-$1000 a month in meds. I think I'll skip trying to include healthcare into things.

You can guarantee to at least break even if you really want to. Just figure out what you used to spend in a month on smokes and use that as your maximum monthly vaping budget. The wife and I spent on average $300/month on smokes. Now we spend about $20-$30 on juice. So I could theoretically spend $270/month on hardware and still break even.

As it stands, since Jan 1 of this year, we have spent exactly $357.20 on vaping and are done for the month of May. In that time we would have spent around $1500 on smokes so that is $1142.80 in savings in the first 5 months. Then again we are both just using eGo batteries and I am using a Mini Vivi Nova and the wife uses Boge LR Cartos (no tank). I would not feel bad spending some bucks on a Provari, Vamo, or the like if I really wanted to since I know I would still be ahead.

I have bought whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted since I started. Some of the money went for batteries with bad threads, or failed prematurely. Some went for unvapable juices, and I gave some stuff away.

I now have an eVic, a bunch of eGo batteries, >15 varieties of liquid (most in 50 ml sizes), and a herd of T3s and Evods (and a protank).

I have backups for my backups, and liquids that I love. I have a "Vape Bar" with a dozen liquids in their own clearos for when I want variety.

I also just broke even. ;)

I don't need to buy anything else for a while, but from here on out, vaping is less expensive.

;)

(as long as I don't buy a prothingy)

:D
