I much prefer rXw to silica or ecowool. It adds no flavor so if you like that cotton taste you're SoL. I have few coils and wicks that are going on 3 months now.

I've yet to burn a KGD cotton wick with a Reo. I've gotten used to squonking about every 2nd or 3rd hit. It's gotten to be such a natural thing, I don't even think about it. Kind of like flicking the ash off a cigarette. If the excess juice is draining back to the bottle properly, it's impossible to flood, especially with the Odin on top. The juice well is so deep that you can give it a pretty good healthy squonk, without juice coming out of the air holes.

Rule, you definitely have a better touch than I did with KGD. I don't think I ever made it thru a wick without burning it. Can't afford to pay attention.

Never burned a wick either - but I also don't have dry hit issues. I can tell when its starting to go dry, the hit before you get the aweful one - Flavor drops, vapour increases a little, and that almost wet exhale is gone - Squonk it, and its back to perfection. I used to use KGD, but have been using Cellucotton exclusively since I got it - no cotton flavour, more resistant to heat, coil and wick stays cleaner longer, and at least equal to if not better than KGD in the flavour carry and wicking department. My current daily is at 2 weeks on the wicks and it still looks good and is performing well - coils are darkened in the centers, but are still shiny on the edges, wick is white with slight darkening where it enters the coil. I'll probably change the wicks here in the next few days, just to keep up on my wicking skills ;)

For me the KGD was by far better than any other cotton, and certainly gave the least of that cotton taste of them - but I still noticed it for several drips, or squonks with fresh wick. BUT it did go away pretty quickly, so that part of it isn't a deal break by any means - just might weigh more with some than others if you are able to notice it. Perhaps I didn't quite master the amount of wick with KGD, but I did use it for about 4 months.

As far as KGD or Rayon, both are superior to rolled cotton or cotton balls, for wicking, IMO. As for KGD vs Rayon, I don't find the difference to be drastic. Both work well. I prefer the KGD over the Rayon because it's so much easier and quicker to work with. Once you have a feel for the width you need for whatever diameter coil you have, cut a strip, twist one end, pull it through the coil, trim it off, done.
