Unfortunately the facebook option is integrated into the forum software. We may or may not be able to offer an option to remove it. Rest assured that SJ and Roly are always trying to do what is best for ECF and do take your input seriously. Some things just take more time than others.

Did the "Disable Social Buttons" routine and the pages seem to load a little faster now... thanks! :)

There's still a Facebook "like" button that pops up just below the "Reply to Thread" button near the top of the page, and page loading seems to stall before that particular button appears. If that could be eliminated also I think we'd be golden.

banjo, i see no fb 'like' button where you indicate, only the f-connect on very top of page. can you take a screenshot to show sarge?

Here's a screenshot:

Perhaps the "like" button is somehow tied to FB Connect (?)

p.s. Using IE8 with Windows XP.

Have you tried using the InPrivate Browsing feature of IE8? It seems to help. The setup up is detailed at the top of this thread.

BTW - Good to see you again.

Hi, Banjo! I have that button too. Only the buttons right under the Settings (above search ECF with Google) have disappeared.

If that makes you feel any better. But that one doesn't give me seizures, like those other three did. :)

Good to see you too zoiDman. :)

I tried the InPrivate option a few days ago, but you have to remember to turn the darn thing on everytime and then enter your username and password each time you visit ECF (at least I do). It was a little faster but quite honestly I can live with what I have now.

The "In Private" tool does help a lot when navigating from thread to thread and subforum to subforum, but it also takes away the ability to "like" a post. Also, I have to turn it off in order to reply or reply with quote.

Still takes 30 to 45 seconds to get to the Main Forum when I first log in or when I navigate to it.

I just tried to "Like" your post with inprivate filtering turned on. Nothing would happen. Had to navigate out of the thread, turn it off, then come back here and like it.

I actually can reply and reply with quote with it on, but I lose all spacing between sentences and paragraphs when it is posted.

bozz - have you gone to windows update to make sure you got all the newest patches? i don't have these problems!

you can also go to Secunia - The Leading Provider of Vulnerability Management and Vulnerability Intelligence Solutions and use that scanner to make sure you're up-to-date .....

Well, I ran the OSI scanner in the link to Secunia. It did find that Flash Player was way out of date. I had ver 5x. Version 11x is the current one.

It's updated now. Thanks.

btw, just tried. Still can't "like" with inprivate filtering on. But at least I got Flash Player updated. Funny, I thought I just did that a few weeks back.

now, remember, bozz - there are quite a few reports that the like button doesn't work until you refresh the page. what would bother me more is losing the formatting when replying with quote.

i also wonder if roly or sarge get those annoying popups "navigating away from page - changes in editor will be lost''

edit - never mind, that popup is an internet explorer thing, and neither roly nor sarge use that browser. but that started for us ie users after the november upgrade ......

Prolly not since they aren't using IE. Maybe I'll just give up and download Fire Fox. I really don't want to do that tho.

That's a good point - let's see if that can be included too.
