As I was leaving work today someone in the parking lot was smoking my old brand (Marlboro Menthol Lights) and for the first time in 82 days I thought, "(redacted) I really want a cigarette!" I held firm and vaped my .... off on the drive home.
It's funny. I can hang out with my friends that smoke and I'm fine (in fact their smoke I find nasty smelling) but one small whiff of my old brand and I'm practically drooling.

I still get an urge once a week or so. Don't worry. My dad quit smoking 30 years ago, he told me he still gets an urge once in a while. I figure we will never be totally free of the addition, we will just have the power to control them that we never had in the past. good luck to you. I bet if you actually took a drag off "your old brand" you'd find it just as disgusting as your friends smoke does now.

I get an odd pull every now and then. I think it is more of a Pavlov's response more than anything else

I will be fine drinking a beer and then all of a sudden I WANT a smoke! I just have to distract myself for a few minutes and I am OK again. Or I get it when I am doing something else I always did while smoking. I think smelling your old brand would fall under the Pavlov response too.

Maybe thinking of it that way will help get you through, I know it helps me sometimes. Hang in there! :)

Thanks folks! It just goes to show how nasty the stinky-sticks hook you. If it was just the nicotine any nicotine delivery system would take care of the want to smoke. If it was just the nicotine and the act of smoking vaping with non-0mg juice would take care of it. It's got to be all the other crap BT adds to them, not just the tobacco.

I can't wait till I'm at the 3 month point....I'm only at day three of no analogs and today I will say is a hard day. I have a pack of cigarettes on me and don't really have an issue smoking them if I feel I really need it (and usually only a half of one) but today because I am craving it so bad I think it's better if I don't indulge it.

I had an urge just this week. My two-week successful mix started to cause my nose to itch so I was back to trying to get it right again. I just kept fiddling around though and now I think I have another balance that seems to work. It is all very strange how we react at any given time (at least to me). After so long as a non-smoker, to become one again would pretty well finish off any last vestige of self-respect I have been able to recently harbour. Then again, I often had fun with smokers and I do miss those times. I might have felt a little looser possibly, maybe not quite so uptight and defensive I suppose. Less solipsistic. I probably would have stunk, so if I hit it off with a beautiful model or someone she would also have to be a smoker. It's hard to say definitively.

We all go through it. It's totally fine. Good for you for not hitting him up for one or grabbing a pack yourself. I agree, perhaps treating yourself is in order. Occasionally I also still get a faint urge, but it's only when I'm doing something that I always used to do while smoking. For me, the hardest one to overcome was playing poker over at a buddy's place. Just turned up the wattage a bit and was in heaven.

I been very stressed lately, had a surgery botched up and been on sick leave from work since mid November. Am out of sick leave now, almost out of vacation time and trying to get on long term disability so my plate is full and I have lots to stress over and I been having killer urges for a smoke. Doesnt help the wife smokes Marlboro's which I use to smoke and many times I caught myself eyeballing her pack of smokes but you have to be firm with yourself and not allow yourself to have that first smoke. If you do you will be a smoker again before you know it because just one does hurt.
If it wasnt for my e-cigs I would of never made it this far without going back to smoking. I was a fourty year three pack a day smoker when I quit last July. I know how hard it is to quit and stay quit. But now that I dont smoke I love being able to breath. Not choking up a lung every morning or having ashes all over the front of my shirt every day. I love being able to taste again and smell things that I couldnt smell before and I dont ever want to go back to being a smoker. Yet when the urge hits for a smoke I dont think of any of that. All I think of is where is my e-cigs!!!!

I know this feeling, I've been at it a few years and I have gave in to the urge a handful of times, and let me tell you it's not worth it. I smoked a cigarette a few weeks ago at work because I didn't have my vape with me at the time, and I immediately regretted my decision. The first few drags were ok but after finishing I felt like crap, nauseous, head felt funny had the bad smell in my nose and felt like hours later there was still smoke trapped in my sinuses, so IMO I would stay far away from them. I smoked analogs for 10 years or better and now find the smell and taste repulsive. I still get the urge but then remember how I feel when I smoke a regular cigarette, stay strong friends, and vape happy.

I know the feeling, every other day I'll have a huge craving for a marlboro red, usually when I'm with my friends I'll smoke a cig out of temptation. I personally don't see it as a bad thing since vaping has kept me from buying a pack a day for over 5 months now. If you are completely determined to quit cigarettes then just chain vape till you feel satisfied. I personally still enjoy a cigarette every now and then, I'm just a lot happier saving my money and only smoking on rare occasions. good luck man

Hang in there :)

... but don't beat yourself up if you ever slip up a little. I get the occasional 'hmm could be nice - why not' flash when that first puff of someones fresh cig gets the perfect air-smoke mix before it hits my nostrils. You know the smell, I bet. And really.. the only reason I don't have a smoke is that I know I won't like it. Chances are you won't either. One cig on 'fresh' lungs feels a lot different than when you used to smoke every day, all day. This feeling (and taste and smell) sticks with you for at least a day.

Early on I used to vape myself slightly nic sick if the cravings were strong. Got me stuck between wanting a cig and not wanting to puke. The latter had greater appeal :)

I'm almost a year into this, and I still "wonder" what one would taste like. (I, too, smoked Marlboro Menthol Lights and ended with Camel Crush Blues....)

So, I just find one of my many rigs and hit on that instead.... The few smokers I know only smoke non-menthol, so I'm not tempted to bum from them....

You're doing great :) And, like Sam says, treat yourself to a new shiny. :D

Sometimes a Battle is Not Fought for 82 Days Straight. It is Fought for a Matter of Minutes. Sometimes even a Handful of Seconds.

Either way, Winning or Loosing is tallied by what you do in those Minutes.

When I first Switched, I had Many of those "Blue Streaks out of Nowhere" cravings. Used to carry around a 36mg/ml Carto just for those Moments. Kinda my "Break Glass in Case of Emergency" Carto. LOL

Good Job in Not Tempting Faith. And Bumming a Cigarette off that Person in the thought of I will Just have One.

:)
