You have people who are at the extremes in both sides of the argument. On the one hand you have the ANTZ who would like nothing better than to have vaping wiped from the face of the earth. On the other you have pro-vapers who take it to the extreme and think that because it is not smoking, even if it looks like it, then they should be able to do it wherever and whenever they want, with no regards to the feelings of others. You can even see it from some members of the board here. There was a thread where a business put up a sign saying "no vaping allowed" and some posted that if they were not allowed to vape, then they will not do business with that establishment. Or those who say that the vapor is just PG and VG and flavorings, and because the FDA says that they are good enough to be used in food, then no one should mind if having a dense cloud blown into their face.
The problem is we don't know what the long term effects of vaping is. While the components of ejuice may be harmless if ingested, we have no idea what the effects are in inhaling it. We simply don't have the 50+ years of long term study like we do with cigarettes. There are a lot of things that we never knew how dangerous they could be to people until decades after they were put into use (i.e. lead paint, asbestos).
For me, if they want to restrict me from vaping indoors and I have to go outside, I really don't have a problem with that. Just like with smoking, I am not going to intrude into someone's space. I've seen many instances where smokers, while standing in line outdoors for the concert or movies or whatever, will light up. When I was in that situation, if I wanted to light up, I would simply step off to the side away from other folks and light up. No need to be blowing smoke around other people if it would bother them. I'll do the same now that I'm vaping and not smoking. I'm not going to take the position that this isn't smoke so you should just accept me blowing it out at you and if you don't like it, tough. Even when I walk into a vape store, I would prefer not to walk into a store where it is so cloud filled that you can barely see further than 4 or 5 feet in front of you, even if the cloud doesn't burn my eyes or makes me cough.
If they want to restrict the sale of juice and gear to adults only, I don't have a problem with that. The industry is already self regulating to do just that. But don't be naive and think that just because you make it illegal doesn't mean that kids aren't going to get their hands on it. Kids can easily get alcohol, cigarettes and other stuff that is either restricted to adults only or outright illegal.
