I don't think that ECf did it on purpose- I suspect the buttons were written into the VB forum code as part of an update, and now the ECF coders have to find a way to write it back out.

The disable option does not get rid of these things.
And that is only a little part of the problem. They are in the PMs so anyone can share what is considered a PERSONAL message!!! For that reason alone this needs to be changed now.

Sorry, but I do not feel like I should have to change my browser, add an Ad Blocker, or do any of those other things just to log on to ECF...nor do I feel ECF has the right to allow someone else to "tweet" my posts or PM's. So, since I know no one is making me be here or forcing me to log in to ECF...I will just not be back very often, if at all....very sad IMHO...

sorry but i disagree - i don't think that vb included social buttons for pms ...... pms are considered private in pretty much all forums and on ecf you are not even allowed to quote them without the express permission of the addressee .....
somebody must have messed up

Your posts can be shared on social sites with or without these icons, unless person viewing them doesn't have the permissions on THIS site to view them.
Its not really a privacy issue as some are trying to imply here. Its just useless and annoying.

Once again, our friends with the (formerly) twin black tails comes to the rescue. Thanks, JR. That link walked me through what I was having difficulty figuring out for myself.
This is ridiculous ECF pages are taking ages to load !!!!!!! Just noticed the Icon "waiting for facebook" ECF need to sort this one out !!!!!

I understand the lag, and thats annoying. But try sharing a PM. It will share a link to the PM, but only person that actually got that PM will be able to see it. Ergo useless.
Adblocker is only working for a couple of minutes and then everything is back.
The main reason I'm on ECF so much is to stay away from nosy family members that are on FB. Tweets/Twitter, I have no clue about or purpose for.
Please bring ECF back to it's former glory!
