Hi I was wondering if I could vape High VG levels with the following setips

I have a Tesla Sidewinder II 2000mah VV battery, with a Kanger Mini Protank 3 tank, I usually use 1.8 ohm dual coils in it. I would like to vape 100%VG liquids, or at whatever the highest VG my setup will handle. Not really wanting to go with a full on mod at the moment $$$$.

I would also like to know if this setup would handle higher VG, the following is what my gf vapes with.

eGo CTwist 1600mah (i think) VV, smok tank (the cheap plastic ones) generally with a 2.0ohm or 2.4ohm single coil.

both VV batteries go from 3.3v to 4.8v

Thanks for your time and this seems like a nice forum so Hi to all!

Hi Wnc Bassman and welcome to ECF.

The battery doesn't really matter for this, the problem with VG is its thickness. Get it to wick and keep your coils wet and you're good to go. If you have trouble at higher VG levels you can always add a bit of distilled water to thin it down. With 80% VG that I've used in tanks I've added 8% water and that did it for me. You can go up to 10% or a bit higher without a noticeable reduction in flavor. You will dilute the nic strength but 10% is not much of a difference if you do find you need that much.

Hadn't considered diluting with water. Sounds like a plan. I have some co-workers who are into vaping and they had lead me to believe that mechanical mods/drip tanks and variable wattage setups were basically the only way to vape the really high VG content. Everything just sounded like more money to me, as I don't care much for blowing clouds, I just want my nicotine without all the PG :)

Thanks

I'd use distilled water personally, tap/filtered/spring water has all kinds of other stuff in it. Not sure I'd want to vape all that other stuff.
Drippers and vw/vv/mech mods aren't only for cloud chasing. Love my setups for flavor :) it does increase your juice consumption quite a bit though :)

Love my setups for flavor :):)

I get decent flavor with my setup, I suppose a more robust/advanced setup would deliver more flavor. What I am gathering here is that its mainly a thickness of the VG and ability of the coil/wick to absorb it that would determine the capability of a setup to use higher VG content. Both myself and my gf both have bottom coils, I believe I read somewhere that they are better at absorbing than top coils, (I could have just as easily imagined that..lol...)

Yeah, bc has a vacuum based feed system, as you suck the negative pressure pulls juice into the head. Top coil has to feed juice up the wick. Don't see many top coil setups coming out.
With higher vg you get less throat hit and more muted flavor

Didn't know VG will mute the flavours.
Hmm, thought VG just makes them sweeter.

VG is naturally sweet, but it will mute flavor as Hectic said. This is usually compensated for with extra flavoring, though if you're diluting it with water...

Everyone above steered you right. Hope it works out! There's a company called cloud velvet selling 100% VG eliquids with water added so they vape more like 70/30, though they use organic flavorings and can be murder on the coils. :)

cloudvelvet.com is a 'parked' domain name with no web site.

velvetcloud.com Is an organic eliquid supplier that (according to their FAQ) "We use distilled, deionized water to thin our VG base in house. Just the tiniest bit," Curious about the 70/30 and any other organic ejuice supplier not on my list?

Will get around to trying them someday, still waiting on five samples from orbvapor. And plan to try opensourcevapor next. Love their name:2cool: and curious about the saline option which is also suposed to be rough on coils.

I myself have 4 120mil bottles from Velvet Cloud, limited flavor choices but they are great. Straw-Grab (Stawberry and Guava) and Catherine the Grape (Made with wine grapes) are my favorite flavors... they put our vape as well. For a high VG juice I also really like Cloud Chasers INC juice... phenomenal prices at Metro Vapors website right now. I got a 120mil bottle and 2 30 mil bottles for $28 including shipping. If you do need that high of a VG, try aliceinvapeland.com or Five Pawns flavors.

Drunken Batman may be one of the coolest forum names I have ever seen ....kudos...:)

Oh, it definitely is, but Oldbatty was right I'd transposed the names: it's cloud velvet not velvet cloud. I'm glad it was just a parked domain and not something weird. For reference, if you see posts by me at 6am assume they could use a little more time in the oven.*

And do be aware those organic flavorings are murder on your coils, and we don't really have any data on how they interact with your body. To quote the doc, "organics are made to be eaten, not inhaled." It was more to drive home that thinning VG so it's vapable in tanks isn't just something weird DIYers are doing.

Run Linux so I will click on just about anything, even made up domain names:ohmy:

Will keep it in mind about organics, but most all normal flavorings are not meant to be inhaled either. Today was the first time vaping in over two weeks. Two quick puffs off of an Aspire K1 to confirm it still works before cleaning it up for my FIL who is still trying to quit smoking. Hoping a third tank will encourage him to try different flavors. As well as having a spare for when one of his needs re-coiling.

Then played with the new Nautilus mini for a few minutes. Very disappointed that none of the four airflow settings helped the flavor.

Me too! But you can't unsee goatse.

You're right that many aren't made to be inhaled, but they're different beasts than organics or oils.

That's awesome mate, congratulations. :)
