Since I started smoking an electronic cigarette some drinks taste really salty. My brother thinks its from quitting smoking recently but I really think it's because of my e-cigarette smoking.

Some soda's taste really salty lately and so does crystal light. Does anybody else have this problem? And if you do get the salty taste I'm talking about, what drinks taste fine? Diet dr. pepper tastes fine and so does root beer.

After I'd been vaping for awhile, I noticed that diet coke didn't taste that great anymore. Neither did diet mountain dew, my two drinks of choice. Coffee still worked, but that was it. my solution was to start drinking water instead. It helped me not get dehydrated and made every vape taste better. My one problem was finding a vape for margaritas. I have to say that Vape Heaven by Vapealicious juice world great with margaritas and wine.
I know the whole no soda, more water thing isn't what you wanted to hear, but that's been my experience.

Just a guess: Increased water intake plus better taste buds = you're probably taking in less salt (or excretion is faster) so your sodium level is lower.

Do you find you use less salt from the salt shaker now that you can taste more?

I wonder if your personal sodium level being lower makes other things saltier. I know that when I cut down on salt, a lot of things tasted more salty. This was even before I quit smoking and started using e-cigs.

Plus the better taste buds.

Also wonder if juice flavors react with other flavors...and you're getting some form of salt flavor-ish thing.

Guess and 2 cents.

Hmm...not exactly like what you are describing but I definitely noticed that depending on what flavor I vape, different drinks that I normally love can taste bad.

I.E. When I first started, I had to get coffee flavored juice to vape in the morning while drinking my coffee. My all day vapes are minty flavors and that just didn't mix. Kinda like drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth lol, or drinking cappuccino while sucking on a peppermint. Some people might dig that-not me.

Even now, if I vape a fruity flavor my diet dr pepper/dr pepper ten tastes bad for awhile afterwards. And I love those, can't live without 'em.

Now that I'm used to it, the morning coffee thing doesn't bother me at all anymore. I agree that your taste buds and sense of smell wake up alot after you quit smoking and that may be part of it too, but the flavor of your vape can affect the taste of what you eat and drink afterwards as well in my experience.

Now you know the terrible truth non-smokers have been hiding for years.......EVERYTHING is salty!!!

Don't sweat it. Your tastebuds are rejuvenating and theyll be a lil wonky at times.
Happens to most of us I think. It did to me. It'll pass.

Or you could just start to love that mmm-mmmm universal salty goodness!

My tastebuds did the same thing, I don't think everything is more salty - just that I notice it more.

I have to say though, I used to be a "soda = my water" type of person. Since quitting smoking and starting vaping, I'll have a soda maybe once or twice a month and I don't enjoy it. Water is my thing now.

I also never eat fries anymore - they taste like saltsticks to me.

Now that I'm vaping exclusively and no longer smoking at all my sense of taste is improving. Most of my favorites taste better.

The juice flavoring you use can affect the way other things taste.

I use a mostly PG juice that is lightly flavored. If I eat or drink something a few minutes before vaping that PG will recall and intensify the taste that remains in my mouth. If I drink a diet cola prior to vaping I'll pick up the fruit flavors from the cola while I vape. If I scarf pizza before even ten minutes prior to vaping I'll taste the juice plus pizza.

Lucky for me my lightly flavored every day vape seems to go with about everything I eat or drink.

I'm a bit of a salt-o-holic so I haven't noticed salt changes... but definitively changes. Sometimes I think I'm actually loosing my sense of taste when I over-vape. Nonetheless, I'm not smoking. And after 30ish years of smoking I'll take the whacky taste issues.

Chocolate and Bacon tastes have not been diminished :)
