Some RDA and Battery questions.

So i took the leap into RDA's and so far i am enjoying it. Just built my second coil last night. Running a trident with dual coil, 10 wraps, 32 guage kanthal (I think) and organic cotton balls...First attempt got me 1.5 ohm and second attempt last night gave me 1.9. My question is how do i work out how many amps i am taking out of the battery. I have read up on ohms law but i keep getting confused about how it works. Originally i was thinking you multiple the ohms by the voltage and that is how many amps you are pulling. But then i realised i would mean you are actually pulling more amps when running at lower ohms. Just running it on my VAMO atm but i eventually want to get into mechanical mods when i learn all the essential info.

I have read up on my battery and it can give 10Amps apparantly. But i dont really notice a difference when i am running it at 5v or 6v. I was thinking it was because i was drawing more than the battery could give and hence getting no extra volts running at 6 compared to 5. I notice a hell of a difference between 3 and 5 which is why i am confused.

Finally how long does a coil usually last before it starts to under perform. I build this coil last night and it already feels like it is under performing today.

Final question. My 18650's from fasttech used to last all day when i was running at 4v on a regular tank. Running at 6v it runs out much quicker. Also it doesnt seem to be able to deliver the full 6v when it is less than 3.8-3.9 volts left. I am guessing that is normal. Can you get bigger batteries for the VAMO and will a high drain battery be of any use with the way i am using my RDA now or is soley for mech mods running sub ohm coils ?

Alot of questions i no but i figured asking them all at once instead of plagueing the forums every 10 minutes would be better :)

Cheers,
JP

On the vamo it will not fire a coil at a setting it cannot handle. It has built in protections.

On a mech it is different. You get exactly what the battery is able to put out.
So a 1.5 ohm coil on a fresh battery 4.1V would require 2.7 amps
as can be seen on Ohm's Law Calculator

The lower you drop the ohms the more that is required of your battery on a mech. You need to be certain that any battery you use can handle the amps you are asking of it and preferably with a bit of a safety margin. This is one reason you see low ohm vapers going to the 1600 mah AW IMR as it allows more than double the amps.

How long will batterys last? Well it depends on what you are asking of them lower ohm attys WILL decrease the vape time on a charge.

I have been running Panasonic NCR18650PD batterys in my Vamo and they are rated for a higher mah (2900 I think? going from memory so someone correct me).

How long does a coil last. Well again there are some variable in how you use and care for it. I have a coil in one of my RM2s that is still going at longer than a month. Every couple of days I yank out the cotton, dry burn, rinse and stick in new cotton. My juices tend to gunk up coils pretty quick though.
