I think I'm to the point where I'd like to try a tank. I don't want to buy a high end one, since I may not like them. I'm thinking just a DCT which I've seen for around $10-$15, and I think I'd prefer one with stainless end caps over the Delrin. Any thoughts or suggestions? Also I've noticed they make those pre-punched cartos, with the little flange on the bottom. Do you have to use these flanged cartos, or can you use any carto and just punch it yourself? I've seen them single, double, and triple punched. Which is the best?

I use dct and haven't had any problem at all with them. I usually vape 70% pg juice and haven't had any problems with the one hole punched. They are cheap and replacement orings can be had to reseal cheap. I have tried other tanks and truthfully some looked better but none really vaped better. With the right juice the dct can't be beat for the price and for dipping your toe into tanks. I also haven't had a dead carto from Hoosier e-cig supply and they have a range of ohms that fit these tanks. I would recommenc them to try and see if you like tanks. I use the cartos with the flange but it isn't really necessary if you want a different or cheaper carto and want to punch them yourself. For the price you can't go too wrong and it includes a carto and drip tip usually with the tank. Good luck!

I have one delrin and one SS DCT. I don't know if it's just some random production glitch, or if it's a consistent thing with them, but my delrin one is really hard to push the end piece back in. Aside from that, they both work fine... even though the end of the SS one slips right in, it's tight enough that it never leaks.
The cartos that I like to use are the 1.7 single coils (single hole) from Hoosiers (with a eGo/Riva battery). Crystal Clear Vaping also has a good deal on a 15 pack of those cartos.
You can punch your own, but if you want to use something like a Boge (which is shorter), you'll have to shorten your tank, or get a cylindrical drip tip that's the same diameter as the carto, which works as an extension (haven't tried this, but read about it).

I currently have both ss and delrin style tanks and will say that depending on what type of set up you're using, the ss do tend to be top heavy and a bit weighty. Even though my dct have the flanged end I use boge cartos with them without any problems. I slot mine, they seem to wick better than punching/drilling and the cartos seem to last longer, hth! ;)

You can buy just the tanks chrome end caps here for $8.55 each and delrin here for $4.65 each plus shipping. I bought 8 of them 2-blue/chrome in 3.5 and 6ml, 2-red-orange/chrome in 3.5 and 6ml, 2-clear/delrin in 3.5 and 6ml and 2-smoke black/delrin in 3.5 and 6ml.

You don't need the flange and you can slot/punch them yourself..I can only help tell you how to slot a CE2 for them though..you just need a slot or hole near the top and bottom with CE2's.

Ok, some of you have suggested "slotting" the cartos. I assume this means using a Dremel and cut-off wheel to cut a slot in them. If this is how you are doing it, is there any concern that the little metal shavings and splinters will end up in the carto and inhaled later?

Now back to punching them. How many holes are you punching? Like I said originally I've seen them punched up to three times. I'm assuming the more holes the better the airflow and absorption, but too much and the carto would turn into a soggy flooded mess wouldn't it? How are you punching the holes (other than slotting with a Dremel)? Saddle valve hole punch? Hammer and nail? Laser eye ray?

Nope I remove the tubes slot them wash then put them back on..you should be able to remove the tubes from just about any cartomizer with a silver connector by putting it on an eGo battery and firmly "wiggling" it back and forth.

I've found the gold ones that are usually used on atomizers are pressed on tighter and sometimes the gold connector breaks but not with all the silver ones I've tried so far.

Dremels are overpriced I bought this kit Wel-Bilt Rotary Tool Kit — 131-Pc. and I've already used it for other things around the house..it's on back order now though...

Please understand I am just trying to play devils advocate here. I have never been able to remove a carto tube. The top cap/atty connection on my batteries will give way before the carto does. Cartos vary greatly, that's more than likely the reason, BUT I would try this method on a used / spent carto first.

As for the shavings being inhaled, I doubt it due to the filler in them. But its better to be safe than sorry. Me and the wife dual punch ours with a saddle valve and have never had a single problem

Well CE2's tubes come off fairly easy and SmokTech Tank dual coils come off really easy..You have to use an eGo battery and grab it firmly near the top near the connector..screw the cartomizer in until it stops but not tight..then grab the tube and slowly but firmly wiggle it back and forth from near the top of the carto. With practice you can have the tubes off in about 15 seconds or less.

No filler in mine I slot CE2's they have wicks..the only reason I know the SmokTech cartos can be removed easily is I got some in a eGo DCTank kit. Saddle valves sound cool but if I were going to punch mine I probably would use a punch and hammer with the carto in a groove on a piece of wood.
