Hi everyone. I'm very new to vaping. I've owned some crappy PVs for about 3 weeks now and I have a fairly decent mod coming soon and I want to make sure I'm taking care of it properly. (It's a 14650 E-Power w/ Ressurector Cartos + Syringe and stuff for filling)

Anyways. I know when you fill a carto the best way to fill it is with a syringe, then you take a napkin/paper towel/etc to the other side of the atty (that screws into the battery) and then you blow out the stuff inside the tube. Then you let it sit for 15-20 minutes to make sure it absorbs but I was curious:

A) Can you start vaping immediately once the carto is filled or is it just better to let it sit for a while?
B) Do Cartos seriously only last a couple weeks? :(
C) How long do those 14650 Batteries last?
D) Does putting a small amount of Vaseline on the threads help increase battery life (also does it actually make the threads last longer?)
E)I used to be a very heavy smoker (6PAD) Could anybody tell me approximately how many mLs of liquid I'll go through?

I've read on some sites that PAD smokers go through 10mL a week so will I go through 60 mL? I think that the eliquid takes longer to burn so I can't vape the equivalent of 6PAD because I have a 30mL bottle of Menthol juice: Three of my friends and I have been vaping pretty much non-stop all day for maybe 5 days? However the bottle is still half full. wow!

I say with great amount of shame that I did not buy this mod with my own money. I had to beg my mother to buy it for me and.. well I didn't really have to beg, she was thrilled that I was trying to quit analogs so she hopped on and bought it, but I still feel bad so I'd like to take the best possible care of this device that I humanly can.

Thanks so much everybody,
-D

You sound like a really nice son. Your mom loves you and wants you to stick around.

Not judging but did you seriously smoke 6 pks a day? I am so glad you discovered vaping and hope it works out for you!
The cartos you bought hold approx 2 ml of juice. Most important thing is to not let them dry out. Keep topping off if you're vaping a lot.

I'm not sure about your other questions- I don't own an epower. Just want to wish you luck with your new pv!

A. Yes you generally need to let cartos settle - all kinds - stuffing cartos so the juice dampens every bit of stuffing and reservoir cartos so the wicks get soaked and can wick well.

B. I can get 7 days out of a KR8 carto, 10+ days out of a Boge 510 carto (at about 2-2.5 ml per day)

C. 14650 - depends - generally I think mod batteries last closer to the mah rating of the AW IMR version implies (implies meaning 100mah = about 1 hour of moderate vaping with standard resistance atomizer or cartomizer). The AW IMR says 1100mah. So about 11 hours of moderate vaping on standard resistance? If you use 2 ohm, subtract 1/3. If you use 1.5 ohm subtract 1/2 (so like 550mah). Heavy/chain vaping cut it in 1/2 again.

D. Noalox, an anti-oxidant compound, is what is usually used on mod threads and other moving parts. I have not used anything - I think it is more an issue on tightly machined parts, not so much on atomizer threads.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...90581-how-properly-apply-noalox-your-pvs.html

E. You could go through 4-5 ml per day if you are a really heavy vaper but it sounds like you are not going through it that fast. But nobody can measure it but YOU. You stick the juice in a 5ml or 10ml bottle and only vape from that one bottle for a couple of days and then you will know how much YOU use on your equipment

a) no, let it sit for 15-20min...with the Resurrectors, be sure you get 2ml of liquid in them...when completely filled(before blowing) they should have a slushy/wet look to them...looking thru the air hole, you should see light...if not, blow them out(gently)......
b) cartos last as long as they last...no tellin'...I get upto 30ml(a better measure than time) of 16mg juice thru them before changing...they could be changed sooner but I try to hold out that long......
c) I get about 12hrs(vaping 4-5ml/day)...they will last ME a little longer but the performance will seriously fall off.....
d) won't make the batts last longer but will help preserve the threads...I have never done it to my E-Power...but, it can help...nolox is a better choice(available from hardware and box stores in the electrical section)...keep threads clean of juice, especially on the cone threads.......
e) absolutely no tellin'...way too individual to tell...I was a 3pk/day smoker and go thru 30ml/wk+-............

...I was a 3ppd smoker and can't imagine smoking 6ppd...you definitely need to be a vaper.........

Here are the best answers to your questions based on my own experiences.

A) It's better to let it sit for awhile.

B) Carto's may last anywhere from one day to a couple of months. It depends on the juice you use.

C) As for the batteries, it depends on how you vape. I chainvape so they only lasted me about 5-6 hours.

D) I wouldn't use anything on the threads unless it's a tube mod. Just keep them clean by wiping with alcohol. For a mod, I recommend Noalox.

E) I was a 4 PAD smoker. I go through 6-7mls a day.

Yeah, I smoked 6PAD. I rolled my own so it costed me approximately 75cents to 1.05 a pack. I used to be a social smoker until I got a job at a parking company. You know when you go to the airport and you park your car in one of the lots and you get a ticket and when you get back you go up to the booth and give the guy your ticket? (I was that guy) and on 3rd shift I suppose you could all imagine the amount of customers I got. Each transaction took usually 30-45 seconds and I'd get an average of 30-40 customers per night from 12am to 8am. That's basically 24 minutes of work on an 8 hour shift. I wasn't allowed a break because my employer said "Whenever you don't have a customer is your break time." So when I didn't have a customer I'd just chainsmoke. (They even let us smoke inside the booth sometimes if we got cold) It was a good company but I lost my job because they closed one of their other lots. and I was one of the three people that got laid off. Haven't found a job since and I've been looking everywhere, haha.

Anyways thanks SwedishFish. :) I hope it comes soon, these gas station ones are good but I mainly just want to give this menthol a break. I so glad I found out about vaping this early on.

Thanks for your help everyone! I'll keep these tips in mind!!!

Oh yeah, one more question.

My computer desk is where I do all my refilling and whatnot and it's honestly not lit up that well. Do you think I should get some sort of a desk lamp or something to provide a decent amount of light?

Cartos are meant to be disposable that is why they are so cheap. Also when to throw them out is based on personal prefrence and juice used. Some juices leave more deposits then others and those deposits can effect airflow or taste. I typically get 2-3 days out of a carto and vape about 10 ml a day if I only use 1 PV. If I use 2 I get 4-6 days about 5ml a day through each.
As for how long the battery lasts will depend on your vaping time and resistance of your atty or carto. I used a 14650 e-power for a few days and was getting 4-6 hours on a battery.
Vasoline should not effect battery life but it can help keep the threads on you battery tube and button nice. The first e-power we got the button was bad off the bat but vasoline allowed it to be used untill we got a replacement.
As for how much juice you will go through that will vary but on my days off I chain vape and vape 10-14 ML depending on which setup I use and a couple other minor factors. On days I work I use 7-10ml a day.

Depends how you vape. I was a 1.5-2 PAD smoker and vape at least as much and only go through 2-2.5ml per day. When I started I only went through 1.5ml per day. I use normal size standard resistance cartos so I am not vaporizing huge amounts of liquid on each drag. but it also depends on the size of your mouth and lungs etc.

Welcome to ECF! We have a New England Vapers subforum here New England Vapers.

We also have a New England Vapers Facebook group, and monthly meets at Jillian's in Worcester. The meets are a great way to learn more about vaping.

Worcester Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York? Lots of states have a worchester. XD I hope it's CT :D

EDIT: Ohhh it's in Mass, I could maybe make the drive down there sometime! :D

The condom method does not work as well on the Ressurectors. Their much bigger and the condoms method doesn't seem to work as well on the ressurectors then say like Boges. Using a syringe is def the easiest way for them.
Like I told u before, let me know when you get the stuff and I'll show you how to fill them.
Filling them correctly will def help make them last longer. I normally get on avg about 2-3 weeks out of one carto. So that means a 5-pack normally lasts me over 2 months. For under $8 for a 2-month supply I think is well worth it.

While I have used a Ressurector right away after filling it, I agree with what everyone else said. If you can let is sit, even for just a few minutes, it is worth it.

A 14650 battery lasts about a day to a day and a half for me using the Ressurectors. Other factors will effect how long they last for tho. The 14650 batteries also can have around 1000 charge cycles before they need to be replaced. Non-proprietary batteries last a lot longer than proprietaries.

Vaseline will work, but like others said, Id def recommend getting some Noalox. You can get a bottle of it for about $5 from Home Depot or something and that bottle will last a long long time. The E-Power battery threads squeak some and the noalox will stop that. Also it will help prevent crossthreading. I can show you how to put that on when I show you the syringe filling

I tried a syringe on my resurrectors a couple of times. Tried with an 18 gauge needle and with a 14 and 16 gauge angiocath. With the needle I could stick the needle down in the filler and shoot it in there. From the mouth end. Or drip it on top like a dripper bottle. I tried the angio cath from the threaded end, but that didn't do anything but fill up the center air tube.

Didn't like sticking a needle down into the filler. Didn't see the point really.

Tried the condom fill tech on the resurrectors. Sure it took a couple of condoms, but by filling from the bottom up, and forcing it in with the condom pressure I could really see the filler get wet. Really obvious with the clear cartos.

Never went back to the syringe.
