Ok...so here goes! I finally got myself started with VV on what I consider a real VV device...sorry my ego twists just don't compare now that I've purchased my Groove. So here's the dilemma, I've been trying to avoid it but after looking at posts regarding different VV devices & seeing all of the issues they have I'm starting to consider ordering a Provari. Why? Yes my Groove works wonderfully but I pretty much leave it at home when I'm working because even though it seems to be well made I'm terrified ill drop it while I'm at work.I don't know if it could take a hit to the concrete surface i stand on all day. I'm still using my twist & reg egos now while i work but its not the same anymore since i got my groove. Additionally, it seems like a lot of devices just die at some point...like my ego's and you have no other choice but to just replace them. I'm not made out of $$$$ so I'm considering purchasing the Provari mini. For me it isn't because of the name but because of the warranty & service that's behind it. I never thought I'd even consider Provari as an option but after reading & seeing constant replacements on some devices I can't afford to buy the same item time & time again.

So before I take the plunge & drink the kool-aid can somebody tell me if there is anything out there that offers the same warranty & service that Provari offers or holds up as amazingly as they do? Just considering paying that much makes me nauseated but I'm beginning to feel like it'll be cheaper in the long run.

The Provari is a great device, there's no doubt.

What struck me most about your post though, was your concern about dropping your Groove on concrete. A Provari likely won't be covered under warranty for that anyway.

My first thought as to an alternative if you wanted to take something to work that could handle a fall and was variable voltage, was the Vamo. It's under $50 (maybe even below $40 at some places), it's variable voltage or variable wattage (you set it the way you want it), and quite durable. True, there's no warranty that I've ever heard of, but even if you go through 4 of them in 12 months you're still ahead of the game fiscally.

Thanks for the advice! I'm not clumsy...knock on wood. Nor have I dropped any of my devices...so far lol. Dropping it isn't my main concern. I only mentioned dropping it because even though the quality of my Groove seems to be great so far it feels like it could break if dropped on too hard of a surface. Uggggh I cringe just thinking about it! I know now that ill never go back to the stinkies & just want a quality device that's going to last quite a while.

Do you own a Vamo? If so what's your personal review of it. I was considering it really hard for quite a while but I keep seeing a lot of complaints about it.
Thanks again for the advice!

I bought my mini for the same reasoning! I've dropped cig alikes before and it's game over most times! I loved the durability of my Altsmoke BB and wanted that ruggedness in vv. I'm very happy with my choice! I also have a Lava Tube, I knew it was junk before I even got home!
If you have the money, think it will work for you and can justify it, I wont talk you out of it!

I've only had the Mini for a month, my only device. I have no regrets. I didn't want to be "the guy" who replaced his device after a couple of months after reading about so many people regretting going the cheaper route. I'm planning to buy 3x for every member in my family so trust me, I was thinking about saving money too but paying less for more issues later is hardly a good deal. Especially when the warranty and customer service is second to none (I heard this numerous times). It isn't cheap by any means, but if you figure in the cost of a new unit if warranty is void or the cost of repairs or a replacement, it's not that much more. I dropped my Mini on concrete (did it twice) and the only scratches are around the end cap. I'm pretty sure that the Mini is comprised of ALL parts made in America, the only VV that can make that claim. That alone makes me feel better about such an important purchase. GL on your decision!

I own a Vamo and I've already dropped it on concrete several times with no problem. And as far as day to day wear and tear, I'm an aircraft mechanic and I keep it in my pocket while I'm working. The other day my cartomizer snapped off near the base and the 510 connection on the Vamo was fine, no wiggle at all. Rock solid.

More than any vaping device that I own, the Provari give me peace of mind from accidental falls. I have a bad habit of laying the Provari on my lap while driving (it tends to roll away from me if laid on the passenger seat, then I get road rage :-x).

A couple of times I forgot to grab the Provari before getting out of the car, and it has hit the pavement. No scratches, no dents, electronics still work.

The stories told about the Provari are legendary. Someone dropped his in a swimming pool, one was run over by a truck, fallen out of a speeding car, and even survived a washing machine when mistakenly left in a pants pocket.

I destroyed my Vamo after dropping it twice. I have no such concern with my ProVari. If you drop a Vamo in such a way that the buttons take the force of the fall, they can cause the circuit board to twist. If you can't get the top cap off to realign the board you may be SOL. The ProVari is much more rugged. I have no regrets over buying a used one, and I will most likely spring for a blemished ProVari mini for a backup rather than purchasing two more Vamos as backups. Besides, the flavor tastes better from a ProVari. Something to do with the way the voltage is run through the circuits. You won't regret choosing a ProVari. :)

I don't know how large the tube on the Vamo is, but lots of people find a handlebar grip that works as a cushioned case. There should be some kind of soft material you could fit it into for security. The Provari isn't bulletproof but mine has survived more rolls off the car seat onto concrete than I would wish on any mod. I pick it up and it vapes. A couple of times the atomizer has hit first and slightly dislodged the end cap that has the 510 connection, but a couple of taps and it looks like new.

The key to the Provari's ruggedness is stainless steel, good tight machine work, and mil spec circuitry. Barely a scratch on mine. Well, there is one tiny one that isn't really noticeable, but it's on the battery cap.

I do own a Vamo, and I've been very pleased with it. I feel like if I had to, I could beat away an assailant with it. I've only dropped it once and feared more for my toes than the device. It still works great.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not trying to dissuade you from purchasing the Provari mini, and in the interest of full disclosure, I do not own a Provari mini. I just got the distinct impression that your Groove sits at home because of your fear of it dropping, and it struck me that even if you did invest in a Provari mini, it may sit home staring out the window waiting for you to come back as well (or instead).

Who knows...if you get one, it might sit home and the Groove may become your work device.

I spent A LOT of money and almost a year before I went to the Provari. I can only speak from my own personal experience but my home has stained concrete floors. Point being, it has been dropped. .. a lot on the floors and still keeps working. I have had mine around a year and just ordered another one because I cannot imagine what I would do if something did happen and I had to go without it lol

I speak for the Provari because it is where I went when I was ready to give up and go back analog and also because it is the only VV I have tried. The v2 is the way to go if you go Provari.

Oh and if you do order from Provari take a look at their clearance section. They discount for cosmetic blemishes. My last order for the one pictured below was supposed to have some sort of cosmetic blemish but there is none to be found.
Here is mine with a AGA T+ setup

Maybe smokes are expensive where I live compared to the US, but I was spending 100.00 a week, and I was rolling my own (about 1.5-2 PAD). The Provari really isn't that expensive in comparison. That combined with how I kill everything, I can't even blame it on being clumsy everything with electronics dies when it's in proximity of me, convinced me to buy a Provari. I love how small my mini is, I bought a regular sized one for home use and I can't wait till it gets here!
