Quit stinkies started vaping less than 2 months ago with a smok StickV8 purchased B&M, backup V8 ordered online that night. I knew I needed a backup just in case so wouldn't go back to cigs.

Week later decided wanted power control and after some research ordered a Smok GX2/4. When it arrived loved it so ordered a backup in blue, first one is gold. After the backup arrived read about having backup for the backup and thought good idea so ordered a purple GX2/4.

All has been going great, all 3 working great.
:danger:
Was ordering some water filters on eBay and what the heck searched the current GX2/4 listings and dang, some yo-yo had them listed for $59.95 shipped, nickle less than the best price I'd previously paid! So of course I ordered a 4th GX2/4 this one in red. Good thing he didn't have any green available or might have ordered it too! He did have black & silver which I don't have but don't want those, at the moment anyway haha.

Funny thing is just last night Debi (better half going on 37 years) mentioned I'd said I'd probably save money not just my lungs vaping instead smoking and said "so why in less than 2 months have you spent $800?" (We have tracked our $ in Quicken for decades) Well I have a backup mod, backup for my backup (and now another backup lol), couple spare attys, spare atty glass, couple year supply of coils, 'bout a liter of various ejuices enough for months. She just laughed.:D

All the cost is up front on this venture. Well, not all....LOL. It may take a little while (enjoy the journey) to fine-tune your vape. I've been at this for seven years, and over that period I've saved over $19,000 by NOT buying cigarettes. I can buy ANYTHING vaping related that I want and still not even come close to the money that would have been (literally) up in smoke without vaping. That's the way I justify buying anything I want.

I can also tell you that once you find the right combination of things that work for you, vaping can be almost FREE. I have my mods and attys set. No more cost there. They've all paid for themselves a hundred times over. I may spend $20/yr average on batteries, wire, and wick. I make all my own juice, and that's really my only on-going expense. I can make all the juice I need for a month for under $5.00 -- less than one pack of cigarettes.

Part of my success has been because I turned this into a hobby instead of just a means of smoking cessation. So....part of the "hobby" aspect is shinyitis. You have a right. Put pencil to paper and figure out how much money you're not spending on cigarettes....that's your fun money for awhile. Enjoy.

Decades ago I like many others swore if cigarettes every hit a buck a pack I'd quit. Yeah right. Then said the same thing about $2 a pack. And and and before quitting was spending $250+ a month buying cartons in another state.

Saving money (eventually) may/will be nice but is the least of my concerns! Enjoying I don't have a hacking cough and don't stink anymore etc.

Since I started shopping at this one shop I've spent 620$ since last September on juice, I used to smoke 2 packs a day at 12$ a pack so about 700$ a month... I've easily spent another 200$ on other random stuff like wire/cotton/couple mods

Vaping = 900$
Smoking in the same period would have cost me about 8,000$

Really helps that I'm a lucky SOB, I've won so much vape gear its getting ridiculous...

Here's my last win and I'm expecting a another prize to come in today or tomorrow (Vaporesso Revenger) I've probably sold about 300$ worth of gear in the last year bringing my costs down to about 600$... so... I saved 7,400$ and big tobacco got nothing plus no taxes for the .gov either..

MikeMc, you sound like me in the beginning, LOL. I ordered ALL my DIY supplies, that was a pretty penny, heh. Not to mention starting to branch out and learn meant... Shiny things!

I have slowed down as a) I have tanks I'm not even capable of using yet, due to my need to learn coiling/wicking properly b) apart from a backup Tesla Nano Steampunk (can you blame me?) I found that I was going to desire different stuff, for different occasions. I JUST bought another tank, the good news is it's a clone and very inexpensive, and I'm pretty sure it will suit my needs as far as starting coilbuilding.... But, I realized I can go at a slower pace, and I'm not buying more than doubles of anything I really LOVE and know I will use consistently, as eventually, I'll either find what I love and stick to that, or continue buying new and improved products.

I can't say that I've spent LESS in two months than smoking, necessarily, but I don't expect to buy any store bought juice for-EVER, which is a big savings right there, and once I get the right MTL setup for me that I can use in TC mode, I'll be pretty happy and along with the Nautilus 2, probably good to go for awhile.

That said I have: Charger, batteries (16), battery rewraps, a coilbuilding kit, a mod/stand organizer, and enough nicotine stashed to DIY for life, as well as wire, cotton and a vat of VG that's so huge, I can barely lift it. I refuse to count my tanks and mods at this particular moment in time, but it's.... Well, it's small compared to SOME, how about that? :D

I am pretty sure this will save me money in the LONG run, now that I'm pretty sure I can continue to vape through whatever happens next, it's also a great incentive to NOT return to cigarettes. My husband is tolerant of my purchases... Should I return to smoking that would NOT be the case (not that I am wanting to at this point).

So yeah, slow down! Maybe we need a forum support group, LOL. :)

It took me about six months to break even (ecig spend equal to tobacco spend). Since then it's been massive savings. As of this moment, I have spent exactly 48% on vape gear as I would have spent on cigs through the same period. With two former smokers, the true savings number is currently $39,756.59 (over the almost-six-year period).

To note: That 48% number has also afforded me gear and accessories that will last me the rest of my life (I'm 56 yo). I could never spend another penny, and I'd still be able to vape for the duration.

If I'd been buying cigs, at TWICE the cost, I'd need another pack tomorrow.

Maybe that will help her understand that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Good luck in your journey, and remain positive. Vaping - it's a WIN.

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping.
You're suffering from a condition known as "shinyitis".
This condition, which effects nearly every new vaper is characterized by uncontrollable spending, coupled with the overwhelming desire to have the latest and greatest hardware.
The condition usually fades over the course of the first year, but periodically recurrent cases can be seen in frequent visitors to their local B&Ms, as well as online shoppers.

Oh trust me I'm well acquainted with what we call in another unrelated forum upgraditis. I'm on my 7th espresso machine at home in 20 years. But it's my Bucket List machine and was only $8500 and it's paired with dual bucket list espresso grinders $4500 for the pair. :w00t:

So I'm not too concerned with vape expenses getting out of hand.

Mcvape, you need some coffee FLAVORED (for god's sake, don't put any caffeine in it) e-juice!

My son craves a Keurig desperately and he doesn't even drink coffee on a regular basis. :) I don't know what this is other than gadgets... I got divorced really young and was cooking on 50 year old "pots and pans" that lived in my mother's basement with me, since I really didn't care to extract much from that marriage other than my kiddo and what remained of my dignity....

When I got remarried, the husband had a full kitchen including stuff like bread makers, a kitchen aid, and a crockpot, I mean there was.... so much stuff.....

It never occurred to me that with so many kitchen items, he actually knew how to cook... I just kind of chalked it up to gagetitis, and started using the heck out of it. Until he was laid off one time and I was working two jobs for about two months and I finally said, "Honey.... Maybe while you are looking for work you could learn how to cook?"

HE KNEW HOW TO COOK. :D I married a 42 year old bachelor, LOL, nicely done husband :) He said he was "collecting it" for the right person....:tumble:

To be fair, I did not explain that I did yardwork every weekend with my dad, growing up. When we were selling the east coast house SOMEONE had to rework the yard.... Husband kept trying to stop me but I ended up digging out all the implements and fixing it so well that.... Well, sometimes I'm glad we moved to the desert. Seriously. That type of stuff. Plumbing and whatnot... also not so difficult (though unpleasant).

We use an excel spreadsheet now for the chores. :) They are weighted and measured and rotated. :)

I know I spent a lot at first, but now, edging closer to the end of that first year, I spend maybe $50 or less a month. Less than a weeks worth of smoking. Or I save a bit for something a little more expensive that I want. At any rate, a vaping purchase can be put off, when I was buying smokes if I had to I would ravage the change jar the day before payday if I had to. Still though, no way to put a price tag on what being able to quit cigarettes is worth to me.

Nicely done DPLongo22! And it's good to see another person with a mild case of OCD.

Mine is a bar graph :)

For what, I wonder...(no answers, to date).
