I know that feeling, my soon to be 3 year old Staffy/Foxhound is entering his teenager dog year.

We too, have a cruel and demanding dogmistress -- though she's in her AARP years. And mostly demanding of walks and treats. Not really very cruel, except about doors. If the door is closed, she wants out; if the door is open, she won't go out. Also standing in the middle of the door and not going in or out, while all the air conditioning goes out. So, actually, yeah -- pretty cruel.

Thanks for clarifying Tazzle... My first cup of coffee
No worries, Anna! :toast:

Sigh... We only have one dog left in the household, and he's getting on in years. I was never a dog person, but raising the boy cured me of that problem.... I really want to find a puppy of my very own, but my husband is such a dog person, I'd have to get two. I have suggested "competitive dog training/raising" to my husband, as I have read a behavioral training/therapy manual or five hundred, but he doesn't seem too into the idea.... It's probably a bad one .

Tonee N., if your teenage dog is giving you grief, if you haven't yet, read "Don't Shoot the Dog." It's the best dog training/person training manual (I used it on my kid all the time, not to mention kiddos I worked with) you will get your dog Totally Sorted out, and it's a super fun/speedy read. The woman who wrote it used to work for Sea World or one of those outfits, though she mostly talks about dogs and people. But, it is a fantastic read, I recommend it all the time :)

I think a big issue has been the insecurity vapers have had that they will even be allowed to buy the things they want and use -- or if they are allowed, if prices will become prohibitive because of taxes. US vapers can relax a bit now, but EU people have to deal with TPD regulations and additional limitations per country. In some EU countries you can no longer buy online at all, so if you didn't get multiples of your preferred gear, and it's not available at the thinly stocked B&M, you're out of luck. In all EU countries that are strict about the regulations, if you didn't stock up on tanks over 2ml capacity, you are out of luck now.

And of course, in some countries, vaping is against the law, period. If you weren't able to stock up before it was outlawed, you're out of luck.

This is why I bought a lot more of the stuff I use the most than I ordinarily would have. I wasn't buying for the present, I was buying for the future. And I'm so grateful that I stocked up on nicotine, now that you can only buy 10ml bottles of max 20mg. So glad that I went all in on flavors and DIY, now that we can't buy e liquid from outside the country, and what we can buy, again, is only 10ml bottles.

Being a vaper is a little like being in an abusive relationship; you can never feel secure, and you never know when the terms of engagement are going to change, so you feel like you need to protect yourself against that by laying in what you need, what you like, while you can.

That is the exact reason I ended up getting 2 liters of 100mg nic. I don't think we will have an issue with flavors since they are used in foods and drinks so the government won't be able to touch them since they are for the food industry or can hide behind flavors being used in other ways than only for making juice.

I turned to mechs and unregulated mods about 7-8 months ago and started building my own so I don't have to rely on a chip or regulated devices should the government put an end to all of the hardware being use for vaping. If they end up putting a stop to the hardware and devices, I will still be able to use my 18650 and lipo powered mods I build. Also the batteries we use won't get shut down either beings that 18650's were used for other reasons than vaping such as flashlights and such, we just found a use for batteries that were already on the market. Same goes for lipos, they are used for RC drones, cars, trucks, boats, airplanes and helicopters.

I always say hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Stock up on everything that may be shut down in the future while we have the chance!

Hell, I can't resist rabbits myself.... But more of a "play with" thing. They're about the only friendly creature(s) in our yard, though we now have prairie dogs this year for some reason. They're not friendly, exactly, and they are DIGGING at the yard like crazy. I'm ambivalent about them, my husband picks them off with the pellet rifle. I can't watch.

Our first household dog was nutz (she got into chocolate chips as a puppy, she lived, but it was rather touch and go and her brain got fried, a bit) but loved all things alive. She only wanted to play but had no idea that "playing" was different from "killing" and the first time she "played" with a chipmunk when it stopped moving she kept nudging it, sniffing it, then looking at us with a "What happened to my best friend?" kind of thing. That did not work out so well for her with Rattlesnakes though....

We still haven't extinguished the pack rat :D.... If WW3 arrives that packrat is going to survive the nuclear winter, I think, although it IS getting cooler (sort of) we should have that vapor barrier up soon and the house closed off in no time.

Rabbits though... Yeah, Australia was all about how can we kill every rabbit on this island for a bit, they were really taking over. Our population remains pretty static, though, there's a limit on what you can eat out here, even for rabbits...

To get back on topic though, I LOOKED at some stuff yesterday and purchased nothing... I am stopping myself, LOL. I'm starting to wonder if online shopping is the scourge of the earth, it's a lot easier to buy something without leaving the house. May actually be cheaper to go to my local vape shop?

@Mike McVape every day that goes by the cost or money you spent on vape gear is less even if you continue to add to the collection. My first MOD Kit was the equivalent of a weeks worth of cigarettes and I am still using it almost 3 years later. That average cost per day is even lower than what they charged for a book of matches so you could light the killer sticks!

Someone charged you for a book of matches?

OH: location, NY.

Problem solved.

Anna

Yes, there was a time they stopped giving matches and if you asked they charged for them. When you smoked as long as I did you saw many changes over the decades. I remember paying less than a Dollar for a pack.

Is it even fair to make the comparison of cost of smoking to cost of vaping? I don't know about anybody else, but after smoking a carton of cigarettes, I have nothing left but a pile of ashes with butts in it. After vaping a 30ml bottle of juice, I still have at least the mod, tank, and batteries left.

So, to be fair, the cost of cigarettes should only be gauged against the cost of juice and coils. Or the cost of smoking should include the cost of lighters, lighter fluid, ashtrays, smoking jackets, burned holes in car seats and couches, and on and on.

Now, everybody, get out there and hit your vape shop and on-line stores like there is no tomorrow......let's win one for the Vaper!

So I just checked and since I quit I have spent $6500 on vaping however a rough guess, that if stinkies were the same price as when I quit, I would be near $14,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You definitely do save money even buying a new setup every other month. Startup costs are just more :thumb:

Congrats on quitting

why is it so hard to just buy one mod and tank ?

It's just like eating pringles. You can't be satisfied with just 1. Different strokes for different folks.

I build my own unregulated, mechs and lipo mods and I have 2 lipo mods (a bit bigger than a N1 enclosure), probably 8 unregulated boxes and a few mechs not including the 2 regulated mods I got about a year ago. Also have a 41mm Voltrove RTA (my only tank cause I'm not a tank guy) and probably 15 RDA's. I have different builds for different mods in the RDA's. I also make my own juice and have so many flavors it's hard to decide what 2 juices I'm going to take with me (since I can't vape just 1 juice all day). People that have more than 1 mod, RDA, RTA, and juices are probably past the quitting smoking stage and into the hobby stage. Just like any other hobby, you can't have just 1 of anything.

Oh trust me I'm well acquainted with what we call in another unrelated forum upgraditis. I'm on my 7th espresso machine at home in 20 years. But it's my Bucket List machine and was only $8500 and it's paired with dual bucket list espresso grinders $4500 for the pair. :w00t:

So I'm not too concerned with vape expenses getting out of hand.
I got the same machine at Fast tech for $24.44. It came with the grinders. Anyone spending that kind of money for a coffee machine is just feeding their ego. I'd be surprised if yours and mine weren't made by the same guys in the same factory. Elitist.

(just for the record...I don't have an Espresso machine and if I did, it wouldn't have come from Fasttech. I just wanted to see if the ridiculously childish arguments were isolated to vaping gear....)

And if it fails, no B&M vape shop open, you don't have a backup and run down to the store for a pack of stinkies late at night....

Well said. I stocked up as I don't trust the government or the manufacturer.

You forgot the empty bottle. And some nice used wick.

I have broken down my costs for what it has actually cost me to vape and separately for what my stockpile has cost.

I too suffer from shinyitis...but my current obsession is REOs. I have 3 so far and every time I check the web page I get glassy eyed. As long as they keep making them, I'm sure I'll buy more.

I started vaping in 2009 with a 901 pen style that got me off the cigs for good. I did manage to resist all that Ego stuff but once I got my first regulated mod I went down the vaping rabbit hole and kept going. I do MTL so subohm doesn't really grab my attention, but squonkers with small chamber single coil attys (RM2, o16, etc.) are a different story.

The name Mike McVape seems awfully familiar...like maybe someone with a similar handle who used to post in alt.coffee? I haven't been on USENET in years but that's where I learned about all things "coffee" and started down the rabbit hole of home roasting.
Coffee forums etc. Mike McKoffee who knows. Was on alt.coffee some back in the day before starting homeroasting. Homeroasting since 2000 left corporate american and turned coffee professional 2007.

Well in addition to the gold, blue and purple GX2/4's on hand a red and a green are on their way. Gotta be color coordinated lol. Except brought the purple and gold to the Roastery today, wearing a blue shirt so much for that excuse. Cost for those 5 GX2/4's ~$300, less than 5 weeks worth of cigarettes no biggy.

Now to get into DIY juice and stock up just in case.:D Do have over a half liter of commercial juices on hand, all various tobacco...
