I know there are tools I can get here to do these calculations which I will actually use when my chemicals arrive. However, I believe if a person isn't at least able to do the manual calculations, maybe they shouldn't try this. So I'd like someone to check my math.

I first did calculations for a 10ml batch.

If I am using pg at 60mg and want the strength to be 18mg -

I figured use the formula of 18=X%(60) and came up with 30%. I believe this means a 10ml batch will need 3ml of that pg.

The flavor I will be testing is recommended at 10 to 15%. I will first try 10% so that is 1 ml (I usually like my flavor mild).

This means I will need to fill 9ml with pg and vg. If I am trying a 50/50 mix that would be 4.5ml of each. I am already using 3ml pg for the nicotine, I need 1.5ml of pg without nicotine.

But I also want to find my true preference of pg/vg ratio and I want to see how overall flavor is affected by changes.

If I want 60/40 as my ratio I will need 5.4ml pg total which is 3ml nicotine and 2.4 pure. I will need 3.6ml vg.

So to make 2 - 5ml batches I would cut numbers in half.

50/50 60/40

1/2ml flavor 1/2ml flavor
1.5ml pg with nic 1.5ml pg with nic
3/4ml pure pg 1.2ml pure pg
2.25 vg 1.8ml vg

At this point I am only asking someone good with math to tell me if my calculations are correct. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions later.

If I am using pg at 100mg and want the strength to be 18mg -

No. For a 10ml batch, you will use 1.8ml of 100mg nicotine to achieve 18mg nic in the final 10ml of juice. 3ml of 100mg nic juice will get you 30mg juice.

The only thing that I see is off is the PG/VG ratio. You have 4ml's of PG before adding any 0-nic base. (1ml of flavoring + 3ml of PG nicotine)
Are you saying the flavoring is counted towards pg in the overall ratio? I thought pg/vg ratio was a number that was exclusively those to ingredients and not the flavoring?

I mentioned more questions to come in the OP. Accounting for pg in flavor was number 2 on the list. Thanks. I assumed the pg in flavor, if existent, would be less than 10%. That wouldn't be something I'd even calculate for. Looking at the ingredients of the only food flavoring I have in the kitchen, I see it's the second ingredient with the third being alcohol at 18%. Guess I was off there.

First question was - When to use water in the mix and how much?

Off topic - What part of IN? I used to ride my motorcycle through parts of the state when I lived in northern KY. Good state to ride in and the people were always friendly.

If your nic is in PG that has to be figured into your final ratio. I was tweaking a recipe last night using 60mg nic in PG with 20% flavoring.
30ml finished, 18mg 50pg/50vg
9ml nic (60mg in PG)
3ml PG
12mlVG
Personally, I don't care if the flavorings are pg, vg, or alcohol based, I have no sensitivity to any of those, so a little on the + or - side doesn't matter to me. Oh, and I did that with a calculator. lol

When you need to thin the liquid and enough to thin it to what you want.

No place exciting. I live near the Kokomo area. (I guess it could be exciting if you wanted to go where there is a sycamore stump that used to be a 2 story telephone booth, the world's largest steer is housed, all automatic transmissions in Chrysler vehicles are made, spot that the first assembly line produced automobile was produced, or the places where the first pneumatic tire, push button radio, and concrete boat were made.) Kokomo is famous for the number of stop lights per square mile, Kokomo Beach, and attracting floods and tornadoes. (Called Stoplight City on the CB)

Well, chemicals arrived. Since I have time today I already mixed some. I decided to go 60/40 and 40/60 without accounting for pg in the flavor. Now I have to wait for steeping.

I'm looking forward to 2 things. One, the previous mentioned seeing first hand the difference in different ratios, which I know now I haven't had a strong VG liquid yet. I knew that stuff was thicker than pg but WOW! 18 gauge needle is too small for that stuff.

The other thing I'm looking forward to, peach flavor. I haven't seen peach in any b&m's I've been to and fasttech was out of the size and strength I wanted when I ordered from them.
