I just realized ever since I started vaping I haven't caught a cold, which was like 1 and a half years ago. When I was a smoker I'd catch a cold 1-2 times per year. Also just about a month ago everyone in my house caught a cold that was going around but I didn't. Its really weird.

I've had the exact same experience as well as many others on this forum. Maybe it's the anti-microbial effects of PG.

Honestly I don't think it's anything to do with vaping, and everything to do with not smoking. Smoking is just that bad for you, it seems to affect how your body can fight off infection to some degree, and the longer you smoke the worse it gets.. In the last few years I was smoking, I was getting multiple colds and illnesses each year, and at least once a year was having a cold that I couldn't get rid of turn into pneumonia..

It might have to do with circulation that smoking interferes with, I don't know but not getting sick all the time anymore... is directly related to quitting smoking, and even though we vape, are experiencing the same benefits of not smoking that someone who was able to quit cold turkey experiences..

It's simply how smoking affects you, verses how not smoking affects you. There is no scientific data on this, it's simply my opinion.

There was another thread about this a while back.

I'm the same! I would get Bronchitis and Upper Respiratory Infections 2-3 times a year like clockwork. Sine I started vapingin 2013 I haven't had so much as a cold. Pure speculation but I attribute it to the antimicrobial/anti fungal properties of PG.

Nothing to do with vaping 100%.

Your health improves since the cigarettes garbage don't slowly kill you anymore, this is why your body fights the sickness better than usual, thats it.

ps. choochoogranny , Non smokers haven't face with all the cigarettes chemicals to make the immune system work harder.
This situation brings me to a sentence - what doesn't kill you makes you stronger..
So while your health gets better since you don't smoke, the immune system keeps on working on maximum.

Yep. I have had one cold in two years and I was past it in three days. Amaizing difference compared with smoking. When smoking, any head cold would advance into a chest cold and last two weeks to two months.

Smoking caused increases in the rates of infections and diabetes are some of the biggest reasons Big Pharma created and pushed so hard for the deeming regulations. There is loss of revenue in NRTs and cancer treatments due to vaping, but treatements for infections and their symptoms is a huge slice of the cash pie Pharma stands to lose.

But ....but.....even NON smokers get colds. o_O ........Could it be? Could it be vaping is a preventative for the common cold?!:D Wouldn't that "stick it to" the FDA and the pharmaceuticals. :pervy:
yep and yes it would :D but you can see even here there are those that can't bring themselves to agree with you

I heard this statement on some news report and could only shake my head in disbelief :( That is like you stubbed your toe and broke it. Doc ask you if you smoke. If you say yes then it will go down in your records that your broken toe was caused by smoking. that would be just as true as the reports that diabetes is cause by smoking. It seems every ill in the world is going to end up being caused by smoking. If we repeat the lies often enough then folks end up accepting them as truth.

Back on topic. I have been vaping going on 5 years. Not a single case of flu or a cold compared to the 2 or 3 I got every year pre vaping. I smoked for over 45 years.

Thats the Propylene Glycol in the ejuice.

I have seasonal Asthma and before i started vaping i has bronchitis ateast once every winter, and had to have a couple runs of anti biotic to combat bacterial infection in my lungs every winter.

Not the cure for common colc. But pg in ejuice improves Lung function.

My last check up i went up in Lung capacity 1/4 liter, and oxygen saturation in my blood increase from 87-93%

My doctor gave me two thumbs up when i told her i was completely free of nicotine

Multiple studies conducted in hospitals starting in 1946 show that PG aerosol distributed via ventilation systems dramatically reduces the incidence of respiratory infections. For example:
The report of the 3 years' study of the clinical application of the disinfection of air by glycol vapors in a children's convalescent home showed a marked reduction in the number of acute respiratory infections occurring in the wards treated with both propylene and triethylene glycols. Whereas in the control wards 132 infections occurred during the course of the three winters, there were only 13 such instances in the glycol wards during the same period. The fact that the children were, for the most part, chronically confined to bed presented an unusually favorable condition for the prophylactic action of the glycol vapor.

Thank you for posting this.

I knew PG was tge Carrier for tge medicine in most asthma inhalers, and PG was safe to inhale.

I had heard that PG limited lyng infection but did not have the data.

Not the cure for common colc..........

Thank you, Two Bears. :) That's why I used "preventative" instead of "cure" in my post......although I was tempted. :p I have read from members here on ECF that once gotten their colds were shorter in duration since vaping. All antidotal, of course. ;)

Finally after a year and a half of vaping I got the flu or well my wife gave it to me which was a personal attack, just kidding :D, back when I was a smoker it would last about a week I was barely functional, I'd get it 2 maybe 3 times a year but this time it went away in under 3 days, I could still work as well, if it wasn't for my fever and sore throat I probably wouldn't even have noticed it...

One thing I've always wondered and would love to see a study done on it is how our vapor affects air born viruses or even dust particles, I'm really curious to see if it's actually cleaning the air so to speak by having particles attach to the the vapor then fall to the ground as it dissipates...
