First of all, I want to say thanks to Mooch, for testing the Sony VTC5A 18650 batteries. And to many other members of this Community who put a lot time and effort into testing various cells, answering questions many of newer Vapers have so that people can be safe.
I've learned mostly everything I know about battery safety, vaping, coils, mods, RDAs, etc... Here at ECF. SO, thank you everyone.

I do have an issue I'm concerned about.
My bad if I posted in wrong area.

I purchased 4 Sony VTC5A's Cells, along with some PVC Pre cut heat shrink 18650 Wraps and thermal insulators from IMRbatteries.com.
I got the Sony VTC5A specifically to use with my smok TFV8 Cloud Beast tank. My mod is Sigelei Kaos Z 200w box mod.

The batteries worked great. BTW I have custom firmware installed on the Sigelei Kaos Z. I installed Vortex-Mod 1.5.3 and VTXtuner version 1.5.1 available at this link is in Russian so needs to be translated xvtx.ru/ecig/download.htm

My issue is that my battery is have became imbalanced. I don't know if it's because they need to be wrapped. There are some areas in the batteries that are questionable.
I don't think that the custom firmware had anything to do with it. That has been on there ever since I got the batteries.

I did recently just purchase a Vandy Vape Pulse BF 80W Squonk Box Mod.
I had two sets of the Sony VTC5A that I would change out.

I used one of them on the pulse 80 watt squonk mod, that's when I started to notice when I put the batteries in my sigelei Kaos they would say unbalanced..
Would rewrapping the batteries help at all?
They do need to be wrap anyways.

Anyone with any suggestions on what I can do from here I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks everyone!

Your supposed to marry sets of batts to avoid this type of thing. Having a regulated mod helped anything bad from happening. I would think if both batteries where fully charged it would still work. And you cant have a full batt and a half charged batt in a regulated mod it wont let you fire it if the volts are more then .1 off or so. Pairs of batteries shouldn't be separated ever. Mark them for the kaos and then for the pulse. They should discharge the same and be charged at the same time. Get new batts for the pulse or better yet get a new pair for the kaos and dedicate the vtc5's for the squonk. And if you dont have a external charger, which you should, then you'll have to charge through the kaos for a while before the batteries balance out even with each other. You can check your voltage in battery setup in the vortex menu. It will show total voltage then batt 1 and batt 2. Also in the same battery menu make sure you have balance set to enable if you charge with the mod.

Once batteries are married, it should be permanent. And no, unfortunately there is no way to rebalance them.

The good news is you have a lot of single batteries, hot on the hunt for single battery setups to get housed in snugly.

The bad news is for your dual battery setups, you are going to have to get some new batteries, and perfume the marriage ceremony as you write something that helps you "match" said batteries in permanent sharpie and whatnot.

Good luck,

Anna

Yup, you got your answer. That Pulse is going to utilize a battery much differently than the Smok. And yes, the batteries will respond to the different usage and no longer be balanced. Having them on different charging frequency/cycles will also effect them. Take the two batteries you have now and mark them as "single' and use them on the Pulse.

Yes I didn't know that batteries had to be married. I've been reading up on that and you are absolutely right.
I will label them...
Is there a way to remarry them.
I'm using a nitecore intellicharger newi2 the charge my batteries.

Those are good batts for a single cell mod. If your not vaping over 100w on your duel I'd get some vtc6's, 30q's or hg2's to get a little better longevity between charges.

If they have already been used, not really.

Married batteries should be new batteries, the same make and model with the same specifications. You want the paired batteries to be as identical as possible.

Thanks for all the input. All good info. Now i know to mark them.
My Pulse 80 works great.

I only used one of the Sony in the Pulse, then charged it back up.

Ever since then I have not been able to Use my Sig Kaos Z at all.

I even tried flashing original firmware still get battery imbalanced warning.

Think maybe the Kaos Z has a hardware problem I can't fix.

Matching batteries is like car tires. If you don't buy them new and keep them together on the same vehicle they will wear differently and won't perform well.

Lithium batteries need to be bought at the same time, preferably from the same vendor, and marked as sets. If you break the set to install them in different mods they lose their matched set status.

I like to keep matched sets in the same battery case. If it's a 4 cell case, I mark the cells with 1's and 2's so that I don't mix the pairs later on. Last couple of years or so I've been printing a Brother labelmaker label with the date of purchase, battery brand, and model. Some of my sets of 2 and 4 cells are older and aren't marked, but I can match them up somewhat by internal resistance values when charging.
