Oof. I had vaper's tongue once. Lasted almost two weeks. I was drinking water fine. It was overdoing this one really great juice and running it way too hot (for me).

Learned my lesson the hard way I did...

;)

That's what happened to me too. Had peanut butter cup from two peas in a pod, really flavorful, probably vaped too much, running too hot and just overdid it. That was 3-4 days ago, just started being able to taste it again today, had to switch to something fruity for a while. So i'm wondering, can it happen again if i over-vape that juice? Should i tune it down a bit by adding some straight pg? Or as you become more vape-familiar does the likelihood of this happening reduce...so i could vape it again and not worry. Vapers tongue sucks. The first day i couldn't taste any of my flavors, and menthol just tasted like...paper?

Myself, I set mine aside a while. Had a lot of samples to try out anyway. As I got settled into my "routine", I brought it back but sparingly. It just isn't as good at a low temp. So I still vape it hot. Being very careful not to hit my tongue (or roof of my mouth) dead on with the vapor. Call it "sip" instead of the "guzzle" that got me into trouble. I treat it like a rich, heavy dessert. Once in a while have a bit. Just don't gobble tons of it.

You also could get a lower nic version of that one. Nicotine screws with nerves (if memory serves, it's has something like a "nerve gas" effect on bugs and used to be regularly used as an insecticide). I learned that the ones I vape often (or routine, "all day vapes" as it were), I needed lower nic than I'd thought. I was a heavy smoker so I started with liquids at 24 (which seemed to be a good idea based on reading stuff around here). As it turns out, that's too high for me. I vape a lot. Like smoking, I like vaping. So "chain vaping" is often just my normal. I backed way off on nic level. I've got liquids as low as 6 now. Discovered I was keeping myself awake at nights over vaping in the evenings. So I've got "evening vapes" now at 12 or 6. Day time 12 to 18. 24s only for "first cig in the morning" or other times I'm prone to that "wanna cigarette" tantrum feeling (I sometimes say it's like having a 3 year old in my head :) ).

I read around here, and do it now myself, that it's a good idea to practice moving your tongue out of the way of the vapor coming in. Get it out of the way so you don't hit your taste buds dead on. I had wondered why it was when you saw pics of the experienced vapers around the forum, they had their PVs at one side of their mouths. Now I get it. Don't hit your taste buds dead on with hot nicotine. Some suggested (and it's what I do now) that I actually put the PV against my teeth. However it works for you, try to avoid hitting your tongue or roof of your mouth dead on. Taste the flavor by holding the vapor in your mouth (and an exhale through the nose adds to that in my experience).

So, yeah, it's an experience thing. Which you can only get by doing. Since everybody's different, there's no way to predict what's "best" for anybody.

I once ran into a guy who had smoked roughly the same amount as myself for about the same amount of time and he started at 24 also. But went up. Not down. Vapes around 36 to highs of 45. I'd be awake for a week straight at that level! Heh, if not climbing the walls and hallucinating. :) You'd think two smokers with similar habits would be similar vapers. But we went in opposite directions. Go figure?

I guess I have been lucky so far... I don't even know what vapor's tongue is. It doesn't sound pleasant.

Ah, it's more disappointing than unpleasant. The flavors are gone. Or just very, very vague. I have plain nic around now (started playing around with mixing flavors myself) so if it hit again, I'd just haul out the plain juice and use it until it passed. Or burn a juice I don't care much for. Save the good stuff for later.

What I find strange about it is it doesn't seem to effect your ability to taste food. That just seems strange. But I could taste food. Just not any of my liquids.

I have been having a big problem with tasting the liquids too. Been vaping for almost a month and off cigs completely for almost 3 weeks. It seems ALL my juices just taste....yuck! I am using a 1300 spinner and evods with a 1.8 coil and staying around 3.6 volts. Is that the problem? I have tried Eve's Delight from High Brow Vaper (which started out yummy!), pink lemonade from Cravin' Blends, and strawberry and juicy fruit from a local B&M. They are all 18 nic and run from 50/50 to 80/20. Any suggestions?

Even though the thread took a different turn. I have been vaping 100% PG all day and my throat feels much, much better. It's the VG, who would have guessed. Most people have issues with PG and I'm sensitive to VG. Well that's good to know because I enjoy vaping and the thought of a cold turkey quit off of everything was freaking me out. Anyone else sensitive to VG like sore throat, difficulty breathing etc? Just curious.

This is common if you don't drink water etc, the vape by nature dries up you mouth/throat which is why you should keep a cup of your favorite drink handy.

Yeah it turned out it's the VG. I have a sensitivity. After vaping only 100% PG, my throat is feeling better. I always have my tasty drinks with me!

I've been experimenting with my inhale. The best way I've found is to take a drag into my mouth and then inhale through my nose which un-puffs my cheeks. I hold it a bit then exhale through my nose. I get to taste and smell the flavor and if I'm vaping on break or chain vaping at home, gives me the best buzz. Using DeKang Methol/Sam-Mint from my B&M and Menthol Sensation from MyVaporStore. 24mg on both.

Hi ALL,

Started vaping a day ago, I had to quit smokes as my vocal cords were swollen and there was a ton of phlegm being discharged. So I got on to vaping, which I love. But now have a day, my throat is killing me, not sure if vaping is good for the swollen vocal cords,,, im constantly sipping on water and having some honey to sooth the throat, also ordered some pure VG. Could it be that I may need to quit vaping... anyone with a similar experience...???

after vaping 9+ months, not smoking i had a really bad case of vapers tongue- almost really mild oral thrush- although i have more reason to believe it has to do with being on a course of antibiotics (oflaxacin) a week before than switching juice brands (not very good)...lol..
vaping can be irritating but imho nothing that a few days and more water can't fix....
also could be the delivery device? sometimes coils can get gunked up nasty from too much flavoring (even sub-ohms genny)
good luck!

if u had just quit smokes its a normal reaction to adjust to vaping- give it a few days, vape lightly, drink tons of water get the poison out from the cigs....good luck
