Mid day today, 29 hours before the scheduled launch of Discovery, I drove through Titusville, Florida.
I saw a few people setting up camp at their pick for launch viewing locations.
I'm spending the night 60 miles away.
With the traffic expected tomorrow, it will be an aggravating road trip of at least a couple hours' duration. And then when I get there I have to find a viewing location for myself. MUST start out at dawn to have a fighting chance. Which means, I MUST get to sleep soon. That might be the hardest part.

I always wanted to see a shuttle launch. Guess I waited too long... 'Tis a shame.
Congrats on getting to see it. Any plans for taking pictures? I'd have my SLR set up with a very long (rented) lens for that one; I'm thinking Canon's EF 600/4 with a 1.4x converter would do quite nicely.

If I get to see it (i.e., it's not delayed), it will be my 5th manned launch. Also under my belt are the last three Moon launches, and a shuttle launch 19 years ago.
I've got digital still and HD HDD camcorder ready. But, worried about whether or not I'll be able to find a good viewing location, having not camped out on site tonight.

I run my own business, so the prospects of me being in Florida between now and June are about nil.
I've heard that viewing locations are difficult to get, and I bet that's especially so with the program winding down. It will be a shame to see the shuttle retired.

Actually, I think we need a place to just be real, or ignored, or whatever, I mean I'm on here everyday now snooping for new info on what to check into, updates on the stock and to find out how you fine people are doing..why not? I consider people friends if I hear from them more than 2 times a week...on here, I say something and 7 people respond if not more in little over 3 hours.
