Thanks Gardner I worried about you and Analog. I just knew you lived in Georgia and he in NC. I'm glad you are okay but I'm still worried about Analog not being here. I know he has posted since the tornados but him not being here isn't normal and I'm a one who worries. I have a need to know friends are okay. I had 5 co-workers who lost their homes and 2 of those lost their lives and it took 6 days before I learned that.

So, this past weekend, I saw the movie "Thor". As a comic book geek from way back, I really liked it. The costumes and cosmology were fairly close to the comic book as I remember it. I thought it was a good clean story to introduce the character of Thor in preparation for the upcoming "Avenger" movie.

Though I am a little upset that Mark Ruffalo will be playing Bruce Banner instead of Ed Norton. Still haven't figured out how that happened. But I am stoked that Joss Whedon will be the director. He usually remembers that he is making it for the fans and not just an artistic expression.

I found out later that Ed Norton bailed because he is accepting/trying to get a role in the Batman 3 movie, Dark Knight Rising. So, there is a silver lining.

I know we will have Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. The rumor is there will be Bane as well. I don't know who else yet.

I like him in some things. Like comedies and odd ball movies. I liked him in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But he was a supporting actor.

He will be Bruce Banner, a mild mannered scientist. But I take your point. He does not look "smart". In fact, his trademark acting style is a slow, hesitant delivery. Almost like he had a speech impediment.

But can you see him as a genius level experimental physicist?

Ed Norton pulled it off. Eric Bana didn't. And I like Eric Bana, as Hector, as Avner Kaufman.

I think in this case Mark Ruffalo was chosen for having a resemblance to Bill Bixby. I like him as an actor and like many of his movies. I am just not sure he can adequately convince me that he is capable of discovering the technology to build a gamma radiation bomb.

But I am hopeful that I will be proven wrong.

And I am REALLY surprised that Leaford did not jump into this conversation.

I prefer the term Geek. But I am not offended by nerd. I just associate that term with the movies form the 1980's where people with great intelligence and no social skills were showcased.
