sort of newbie short of breath

I quit smoking real ciggs at two packs a day almost three years ago . I was smoking njoys from the gas station at bold 1.8 % but despite what they advertise I was buying a bottle of 5 refill filters every day at 21 bucks a pop so to save a bit of money mu husband bought me Tsunami 1000x with two vials of 1.8eliquid nicotine solution. The very first day I thought I went to heaven because the battery never went dead and I only had to fill the tank once. Next day twice and it has been about a week now but I vape like I smoked and it is pretty often. Is this affecting my lungs because I am short of breath and have a heavy feeling . I do not want to stop but maybe I need a different type of vapor mix? I quit smoking due to shortness of breath years ago so I am really disapointed right now. Any advise ? Thank you /Laura

Un huh. It's probably the base mixture. I had about the same results using 80% vg, and it went away shortly after switching to 70% pg. For people who are sensitive to the mixture, the usual culprit is excess of pg. I'm different.

If you know the percentage of each in your juice, try going in the opposite direction. If your present stuff doesn't list the percentages in the mix, try a small quantity from a vendor who does give that information. It's probably going to take awhile before you narrow down the problem, but when you get there, don't hesitate to discard the problem juice.

One of two things could be the cause. Like Smallville says, allergy/sensitivity to PG is a real, uncommon but not rare possibility. Also, from my experience, the way I vape had to change from the way I smoked. I found out right away that lung inhaling irritated my lungs worse than cigarette smoke ever did. I vape with a very slow draw and do not lung inhale, but exhale out the nose. Voila! No more lung issues, and I'm still getting the full effect of vaping.

Somewhere on this site (check the FAQ section) is an explanation of "vaping technique." There is some very good advice there. Check it out, as well as the possibility of the PG allergy/sensitivity. Good luck!

It sounds like you are vaping the same way you did when you smoke and lung inhaling. It's not necessary to do that since almost all of the nicotine from vaping is absorbed in the linings of your mouth, not in your lungs anyway. Depending on the PG/VG makeup of your liquid lung inhaling can be especially annoying for some people.

When I started it took me a good month to un-learn everything I did regarding how I smoked for 30 years. I was a deep lung inhaler when I smoked. I seldom lung inhale when vaping and really don't miss it.

See here for more info and try changing up your vaping technique to see if that helps. => http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/337017-inhalation-technique-e-cigarette.html

I am going to investigate the technique forum right now. That makes sense. I am a deep inhaler and that is why I turned to the ecigs I need that crutch. I swear I think I went from thumb sucking to smoking. Finding a happy medium is hard. I know you guys have loads of flavors but truly Marb red is my ultimate flavor. I just want to breath easier. I saw exrays from a guy who quit and vaped for two years . There was a difference, his lungs were clearly healing. I want to make sure I am being smart about vapeing so all your advise id truely golden. Thank you

Many experienced vapers I've talked to have found issues with either too much PG or too much vg in their juice...

I would recommend an experiment.
Buy the same juice (inexpensive of course) in 3 ratios...
80/20 50/50 30/70 pg/vg (Mt Baker is inexpensive and gives you full options)

Try each for two full days and see which feels best...
PG delivers harder throat hit and strong flavor
Some find it feels "thin" and it can dry you out at higher ratios, some people are allergic(mildly)
VG delivers larger clouds of Vapor but too high a ratio has given many a "heavy" feeling in the lungs with increased production of phlegm.

Finding your balance is key...

Goodluck! Vape strong and live long!

This is the perfect experiment and explanation of PG/VG. I smoke 50/50 because too much VG to me hurts my lungs. I do still lung inhale, but I draw very slowly into my mouth and then inhale.
