Is it normal for the ECF New members forum to be bombarded by spam early in the morning? The past few mornings it has been that way. I've reported a few but can't keep up with how many there are.

Oh,... And the VTR I just received the other day was defective so I'll be sending it back. What would be a good alternative? I kinda like the box mods...

To be fair, I imagine it's a very low paying job and the people need money, so I don't blame them personally. I'm just hoping to harass them enough to move on. They are very active though, if you Google the phone number(s), which change frequently, you'll get about 1,000+ results every night from different forums they are bombarding.

Cool. I see they've been deleted now.
That's crazy @ The Ocelot. I had no idea it was that prevalent... Or that people might actually be getting paid for it.

We have companies like that in the US too. Clickworker is one that comes to mind. People get assigned projects, like posting the same thing over and over on different sites and they get paid something like 15¢ per post. It's usually people who are homebound that work for them. The money is awful, but if they are fast they can make a couple of bucks an hour pasting something already copied.

As for the amount of spam, it's worse than I've every seen it, but something will be figured out. I'm not a mod, but I like to solve puzzles, so I'm pondering what can be done.

As for a mod suggestion, did you consider the istick?

Normally, on here the filtering and other behind the scenes stuff takes care of the vast majority of SPAM and you never even see it. But this "India" SPAM - they are doing it the hard way and going through the work of manually creating accounts to get on and post.

To report a post - see that little triangle thingy to the right of Blog this Post at the bottom of every message? You click on that and it pops up a window to do the deed. Just put in a short note that it's SPAM. You don't need to do that for every post you find - one report for a post on each account you see is sufficient.

They are also getting clever. For the ones that didn't have enough posts to get PMs I was posting visitor messages on their profile pages, but the last one had that feature disabled.

OMG! It's Learning!

I am also suspicious of posts from China that ask things such as, "what xxx do you like?" and "I've heard xxx is good," without revealing anything about their own vaping. Quite often they are unregistered suppliers who at some point will post a link to their company's site.

Yeah. I was wondering about those too.

haha. I haven't seen Provari spam before...
I'd like a Provari. Just a tad too expensive for my blood at the moment though. :(
Maybe for my 3rd or 4th device?
After I become a little more accustomed to the in's and out's of vaping.

I'm glad to hear that it's new for you. The forums used to overflow with ProVari hatred.

I got my first ProVari to celebrate 6 months tobacco free. It was an accomplishment I never thought I would reach, so I wanted something special. I was also moving up from a Twist. There weren't many mods to choose from at the time - no MVP, DNA(insert number), VaporShark, etc. For what was available at the time the ProVari was a no brainer.

I love ProVaris, but now there are mods with features more specific for different styles of vaping, so a ProVari might not be the right choice for someone else - or even me sometimes, I also have bottom-feeders and mechanicals.

@ The Ocelot - The Provari has gotten a bad rep on the forum in the past? I'll investigate. haha It seems like a good device, as you said... I'd like to treat myself to one someday too!

Being new to the vaping community I'm trying to get as much knowledge as possible before making my next purchase. Since I'm liking the look of the box mods at the moment.... You think maybe the MVP or istick or something along those lines would be a decent choice? (For something not too terribly expensive, but that works great?)
