One thing SP users need to consider is that this device is made from UNFINISHED aluminum. Both the electrical contact areas on the "switch" are also UNFINISHED aluminum. Over time, the aluminum will start to build an oxide layer; an aluminum-oxide layer which is an electrical INSULATOR.

The contact areas will also start to "pit" over time from the small spark created during make/break of the electrical current. Aluminum doesn't make a very robust switch contact.

I haven't had any major issues with my SP, but I did notice that after a week or two the switch would start to become more and more intermittent. This problem is easily remidied by disassembling the switch endcap and using some Eagle One NEVR-DULL to clean the contact areas. Re-assemble and it works like new.

Overall, I really like my SP. I haven't touched my 510 batteries since I bought it. I don't regret buying it at all.

I got mine Thurdsay. I think Im missing a few parts. I only received two tubes, batteries, chargers, atty and cartridge. No button thing, no spring, no washer, no connector. Just..tubes, batteries, charger and juice and atty/cart. Send an email questioning what else I needed and if I had to order those parts not received or was just kinda over looked.

Just received my..order? Only received the body and two thread ons for the atomizer. Nothing else..sigh

Email James and let him know..and as suggested I also sent a pic of the box I took when I opened it, not only was he kinda...ahem..upset, but he also noticed another piece that was missing and sent that out as well. FAST email respond and VERY nice. I didnt want to even say anything, but I was kinda lost as to what to do so I could fix it and not have to bug James about it. I hate sounding like a nag =\ but he didnt make me feel that way at all. Great to deal with and more then helpful!

Okay................so I can't get the Thermo to work. I am using the same caps as what I am using on the SP2 and I get absolutely nothing from the Thermo. Should I just accept the fact that no matter what, these are going to be a pain in my a**. I am using an AW 17670. At least that is what I have. I guess I can't say I am actually "using" it.

hi, sky - i think the problem is that everything just has to fit right! and when i checked specs on a 17670 this is what i found

"Height 68+/-0.5 mm"

if you got one on the short side i'm pretty sure it won't make the connection ......

Hi tib,

Thanks. I think I am going to admit defeat. I'm going broke trying to find things that will fit "just right" with these. Honestly, this has turned out to be a rather expensive "cheap" mod.

sky, don't get discouraged - if there is such a variance in battery specs allowed than i'm sure ours is not the only mod effected. that's why there are plenty of discussions on ecf about spacers and earth magnets.
your sp2 is now working well - use that until more info can be obtained

and remember the only telescoping mod that i found which allows for length adjustments according to batteries used is well over 200 dollars ......

Sky,

On the Thermo I have been using the Ultrafire LC 17670 1800mAh 3.7V Li-on (Protected). These fit perfectly for me. I just put the caps on first and then add the carto/adapter/atty...which ever you are using. I have two of these now...on one I have a 801 Fusion Cartomizer from IkenVape and the other has a 801 to 510 adapter w/ a Carto on it.

**Maybe you can see if someone wants to trade you for some Ultrafires?**

I was having some trouble with the buttons on my new one, but once I added some Noalox on the inside & "broke them in" it's been working perfectly. My definition of breaking them in: top-sliding it back and forth several times with my hand, not connected to anything. bottom- pushing the button while it's on the tube(you should hear a slight popping noise before you release the button) several times.

Honestly, I feel that some of the machine grooving from the pins in both the top and bottom needs to get worn off a bit before these things get broken in well. Yes, it's a bit of a PIA, but that is what you get when you basically pay a little over $20 for two mods. :D

For all those having firing problems (didn't read the entire thread, keep that in mind), a bit of advice: a pencil is your best friend when it comes to the SP/Thermo. Makes keeping the the contact points clean (use the eraser on the contact points and the brass pin) and mess free to boot. As for the other issues, can't help there, I've not had an issue one with mine since I bought it.
