Got a reply to my email stating that the free thermo tube promotion officially started Monday and since I ordered 4 hours earlier and didn't request it, that it wasn't included. Lucky me.

He said if I wanted one I would have to place another order for something else first and add a comment requesting it.....

WOW...... I'm done with this James McDonald guy.

I placed a second order for end caps and a 510 adapter and CLEARLY stated in the note section (like he told me to) that I would please like him to include the thermo tube that I neglected to request with my previous order.

Got my second order today. No thermo tube.

I won't be recommending his site or products to anyone else.

Hey Folks,

I have read this entire thread but just need a little clarification. Today I ordered the Power Regulator Unit only, plus a 510 adapter. I will *not* be receiving or using the Thermo Tube, nor will I be receiving or using their batteries.

My goal is to use Dual-Coil LR 510 cartomizers. This is really the only reason I bought this unit. I wish to use 3.7 volts and no more. So, now I will need a single battery and charger.

First priority is safety, second priority is performance, third priority is battery time, fourth priority is price. Yes I want a bargain like everybody else, but I am willing to spend a little more for safety.

So, exactly what battery and charger should I buy, and where should I buy them? Preferably both from the same supplier to save on shipping. Please provide links. Googling batteries has made me cross-eyed.

Thanks in advance, JJ

I would recommend AW IMR 16340 batteries from Super-T or Lighthound.com. Both have chargers that will work fine with these batteries.

giggle, us girls prefer it this way ......

So did you just decide to live with the gap, or is the hubby still on the case?

If you don't want to modify it at all, I can send you an O-ring to fill the gap like in the attached pic. It perfectly fills the gap without leaving any extra space for the battery to flop around.

I recommend the AW IMR 16340 as well. Super-T is my preferred battery vendor because the $1.39 shipping for batteries is great (it includes charger orders too) Electronic Cigarettes and AW batteries by Super T . I'd suggest you get at least 2 batteries.

The great thing about the AW IMR is that its a Li-Mn battery... a safe chemistry battery with a very high output of current. Enough to drive dual coils well (many other batteries can't discharge enough current). The down side of the AW IMR is they aren't protected batteries... ok for you since they don't explode when they fail, but not so great for the batteries because you can drain them too much and destroy the battery (it will stop working... won't recharge).

AW IMRs are rated at 550mah, and unlike most other vendors, thats an honest rating. So with a dual coil atomizer, you are probably drawing 2.5 amps are so... the AW IMR can put out up to 4 amps, and will drive the dual coil at its max capacity. It will only do so for about 12 minutes of actual runtime.

Be careful not to run it down to far.

Ah, the pic is a little grainy and I couldn't make it out at first. At first glance I thought it was just a gap.

I sent JM an email and he responded saying he would mail me a thermo tube. I guess I was just tired (awake for 28 hours) and dissapointed and jumped the gun with my post. I need to learn to tone down the H8..... lol.

lol, working nights and finding no thermo in the package will do that, i'm sure

don't know why the picture turned out so grainy, maybe i got too close or had the wrong setting. do you remember offhand what size o-ring you used?

Improper or not enough lighting is most likely the cause of the grainyness. When taking close-up pics of objects it's best to turn the camera flash off and and take the pic under strong lighting like directly under a table lamp or outside in direct sunlight.

I have a huge O-ring assortment and the one I put on there measures 19MM O.D. x 17MM I.D. It had to be stretched a little to get it on, but a 20MM O.D. seemed a little too big.

Its grainy cause it was a dark interior shot and the digicam used high ISO, which causes noise.

Are you using those O rings to deal with the length of the protected batteries? Is it possible to file the brass pin down a couple of mm to fit them with no gaps? Or would you have to file the pin and the atomizer threading down as well?

Tiby and I are both using 510 adapters on our sparkplugs. When you screw the adapter all the way down it pushes the brass insert further down inside the tube. When you put the battery in and then screw the bottom on it leaves a gap.

On mine, I just filed the brass insert down to compensate, but that means you can't switch back to the BE112 atomizer. I was just showing the O-ring as a non-permanent solution to the gap when using the 510 adapter.

A longer protected battery will probably cause the same problem (I don't have any yet).

I am also using the 510 adapter. I have no gap. What happens when you screw both ends on the sparkplug, then attach the adapter till its snug (not all the way down), then attach the carto?

Nothing bad, you just see some threads showing under the adapter and the carto might not screw all the way down. I'm just a little obsessive compulsive and couldn't stand looking at those two issues when I knew I could do something about it.
