I had heard they were looking at the development of a 5v switch and a VV switch as well for these. They now have the eGo booster which can turn the eGo into a VV device, so maybe it's not too far in the future.
I dug into this a bit since I'm looking at/considering these in the future. This is an excerpt from one vendor's site (fair use product info... anonymous vendor).
The replaceable switch assembly is PCB based (printed circuit board) meaning it can provide control logic for your unit that the ordinary momentary switch of the standard eGo does not. What does this mean? First and foremost it provides a REGULATED 3.7 v experience and warns you if it dips below that by flashing continuously for about 5-6 seconds reminding you to replace the battery. In the near future the e-Power will be avalable with an auto-switch and, because a PCB is already incorporated in the e-Power a variable voltage switch with a voltage indicator thumb wheel is in the works.
There may be other switches out there. Strange. Conflicting info with above "not regulated" quote.
This could be a misunderstanding of regulated v.s. monitored. It looks like they are saying that it flashes when below 3.7. OK, that's low batt indicator. Cool, but not voltage regulation. (bet it's more like 3.6 or even less but that's a SWAG).
As far as 5v or vv... They'd need either 2 batteries (2 short ones maybe) or a booster (doubtful for the 14's). Maybe doable. Wonder if they will need to have a longer housing for them. Easier to use 2 batteries than boost with one, since you charge externally anyway.
