No matter what I do, my squape constantly leaks/gurgles. I gave up using it. :/

Most all of my cotton micro builds work fine, just the last one gave me problems. The Squape takes an approach of respect and artistry. For me it is very much like working with tobacco pipes in the artistry, hobbiest approach. It is what makes it so enjoyable, satisfying and fun for me. So like KY-Rob, I would offer to buy it off of you as well. Or offer to work with you on getting it to perform wfor you. When it works it is one of my favorite devices, bar none!

Heres a couple of pics of how I wick the SQuape: (1.3Ω 28AWG)

This pic is a 2-day old wick. Notice how the cotton is almost all the way to the bottom of the channels. This is what happens when the cotton gets loaded properly during normal use.

This pic is a brand new wick. See where the ends are trimmed? Works perfectly this way!

Hope this helps!

"1648" mine is 1649 ;-)
Just picked up mine last night (sn#1648) and I am in love. Far from an original statement but "the air draw is too right for my taste". I plan to drill a second airhole 5/64 on the opposite side of the 510, should fix her right up. I'm noting it performs a little better on properly slotted/slightly raised 510s. In spoiled with the open draw of a kayfun 3.1 and the draw on my mister v3 is one that I got used to. As far as the build, I'm with it. Microcoil around a 3/32 with 27g 8/9 wrap with cotton ball and I love it:
I'm having a good experience with this atty and I love the easy way to build/fill.

All in all I'd say this was worth the price tag. ...... to find out fast tech made a clone, but oh well. Maybe I'll pick one up for spare parts?
But then again maybe I'll just cough up an extra $150 and snag another while I can.

Opening up my Squape for more airy draw.

I drilled the center hole to 2mm , then drilled the side hole to 1mm. Maybe I will open it up further but I doubt it , its about the same draw as my Kayfun Lite, maybe a little more open and vapes perfectly , no leaking issues, just a nice open draw with good flavor and a lot of clouds. I normally use only organic cotton and my coils are normally at around 1.4 or 1.5 ohms. The one on the photo is just a experiment that ended up way high in Ohms ( about 3.2 ) but it still valpes nice :).

Ok I just reply to myself to post more photos ;-).

Here is how I build it normally , just a micro coil ( normally use somewhere around 1.2 to 1.4 ohms ) the one on the photo is just some experiment that ended up on 3.2ohoms but still a good tape.

I keep the cotton short , it just touches the wick holes and I keep it rather loose in the coil. No dry hits, leaks and no gurgling.

Okay, I've had my Squape for about two weeks now and I cannot find a build that gives good, consistent, flavorful hits. Every single build that I have tried has ended in dry dry dry dry hits. I've come so close to just selling it these last couple days.... If anyone could please advise on this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.... ( Been using a 28 gauge micro coil at 1ohm with organic cotton )

Also, I would like to drill out the Squape, but do not know how far I should drill through the addy deck, seeing as there is a screw in the bottom and do not want to mess up any of the threading. I know drilling through the hole on the side of the 510 connection is fairly simple, but drilling through the deck itself is the part I am unsure of.

Any advise is greatly appreciated!

I've found that a twisted 30g coil at 1.2-1.4ohms works well for me. I did drill mine out to 5/64" and the draw is so much better. Had no issues going through deck or hitting screws, just be cautious when you do it.
I don't ever get dry hits on it, also use cotton. Once thru the coil I trim it at a 45 degree angle so the full amount of cotton reaches the side corner of the deck and by the time it gets down to the bottom of the side channel it's down to nothing; sort of a taper to let more juice get up the channel a little. Usually wrap on a 5/64" bit for this build.
Good luck! Once dialed it's a great rba. Not a cloud machine, but a tasty consistent vape that, for me, doesn't get flooded or dry hits.

It's all about the wick...nice and dense is key. Not fluffy. TRIMMED PROPERLY is another MUST. Don't forget to prime it well before use! This build works perfect every time for me:

Okay, so I built another coil and re wicked the squape. I built a 1ohm nano coil on a 1/16 drill bit,and made the the top of the coil flush with the addy deck. Then I pushed the cotton into the channels on top of the addy deck, NOT down the sides at all. I have to say, this made an extremely big difference.... To anyone having problems with dry hits, make sure your coil is pushed down into the air hole where the top of the coil is even with the rest of the addy deck. I appreciate your help and pictures. When I get home from work, I'll most a picture of the new build. Thank you everyone!

I'm not meaning to beat a dead horse regarding the clones, but I'm really interested in the Squape but would like to "test the water" first with a lesser cost device. Is there a particular clone out there that is considered to be better than the pack? TIA

To my knowledge, a Squape clone is a Squape clone is a Squape clone. The original is probably better, but when I finally figured out how to build the squape clone properly, it has now become my favorite rba out of the bunch.

Thanks.... I'd heard about problems with the deck on the clone not being treated well enough to prevent rubbing off and then having shorts. I'm really curious to try one.

I finally revisited my squape yesterday after reading your guys posts about the proper cotton thickness and how to set it in the top channels. Before, I wouldn't trust it not to leak. Today, its with me out at a job site. Wicking and hitting great at 14 watts on a dna30. About 1.3 ohm 28g micro coil.

That's awesome! I run both of mine at pretty much the same settings all the time. Day in, day out, my SQuapes just perform. No hassles. No problems. Just flavorful, thick vapor.
