I just received some of vapage 4ml bottles and as far as I can tell they are exactly the same size as the minis 3ml bottles, only the threads/cap is different.

I guess either Rob is being generous and undervaluing his bottles or Vapage is shortchanging us? I tend to think the former. :)

I know right, I guess the laws of physics are different over at team Vmod...though I gather Rob is downgrading the bottle size accommodating the fat boy feeder tube

What? What's a fat boy feeder tube, and what you you mean downgrading the bottle size? Where did you see that?

The Rob bottle is claimed to be 3ml, the Vmod bottle is claimed to be 4ml...even though the body's of the two bottles are identical (the threaded necks are different)...I imagine Rob calls his a 3ml (or downgraded the size) because of the large Tygon tube he uses takes up volume (honest or what?) where as the Vmod (as I understand it) is an "invert to feed" system with no tube taking up space.

Thought I jump on this before pandemonium ensued.

Ok, I see what you mean. Rob's holds 3 mls because the feed tube that comes with it already is thicker and displaces more fluid... not that he's going to start selling smaller bottles w/ the new mods, which is how I read that first post:p. Thanks for the clarification, I read that first as, the new models will have bottles that hold less volume and he's changing the tubing for a bigger one (I never measured how much it holds).

I want to disagree... Volume for a bottle is not measured after something is stuffed in there.

Quiggy you have both bottles, yes? Test it empirically. Fill both up to the brim and than dump into a graduated cylinder or, hell a plastic medicine cup ( cough syrup)
See if the ml match please and thank you :)

They were always called 3 ml. In the olden days when dinosaurs roamed the earth the metal Reos all had a thinner tube. THen a thicker tube was introduced. After that we discovered fire and invented the wheel. On the island of Yap (I don't know where Yap is) they have round coins made of stone that are 8 feet in diameter.

PS. If you keep waxing your wood all day I'll move your Reo on you and you'll never find it because you'll be blind. You've been warned.

Probably will get warts too.

The fat boy tube has a volume of at least 0.8ml. The 18 gauge needle tube has a volume of about 0.1ml. Therefore we could get an additional 0.7ml into the bottle just by swapping the needle for the lower part of the tube. Hmmm. In a Mini, considering we never fill the bottle to the top, because the tube takes up 0.8ml, we probably only put about 2.0ml into a Mini's 3ml bottle. Therefore the increase would be 2.7/2.0 = 35% increase, not too shabby.

I measured the Reo bottles, they are 3ml and 6ml as advertised, when filled to the shoulder at the top, below the start of the threads.

No I used displacement and the graduations on the side of a 3ml syringe. I pulled the plunger out of the syringe, filled it to 2ml, then inserted the tube the same length as what would go into a 3ml bottle, and saw the water rise to the 2.8ml mark.

I have a 1ml syringe but the tube was too tight to get it in. I could only get it in a little bit and then it got stuck.

i did a grand tube and the displacement of the tube is only .50ml so best guess for a mini I'm not sure because I don't have a mini bottle.

Here's the math..tube diameter is 3/16" (.1875"). Radius is.0937" A GRand bottle is 1.375" to the shoulder.
Volume of a cylinder is height x pi x radius squared

1.375x3.14x.00878=.0379 cubic inches

Have to subtract the inner diameter which is 1/16" (.0625")..radius .0312" so that = .0041 square inches

Total volume is .0379-.0041=.0338 cubic inches

Convert .0338 cubic inches to ml=.55ml

subtract out the 18 gauge needle which I got at .05 ml and I end up at .5 ml

I'm not sure the height of the 3ml bottle compared to the 6 ml bottle.

Different and all too .... approach. :)

Now the juices are flowing (pun intended) :p...cutting off the bottle portion of the fat boy tube and replace it with chunk of 18 gauge needle, maybe heat and bend an offset into it so it sat at the back of the bottle...brilliant!

Of course you realize that this can only turn into a 2.1 juice capacity "arms race" right...maybe time to mill out the step and see what I can jam in there...

*watches intently* :pop:

ETA: The size of the mini is wonderful, but they lack the capacity. I have 2 14500 mini's I stopped using and started using grands. And as has been mentioned, I, too, don't mind carrying an extra battery or two, but juice is just too much hassle to tote around in a separate container. This whole thread has inspired me to (eventually) try my hand at "enlarging" a 3ml bottle. If I could get 4.5-5ml, I might just start using the mini(s) again.
