Ugh, that sucks Rudy and MoN!!!

For someone without a vise or drill press but with a cordless drill, an ice pick, and the normal assortment of hand tools, how would you suggest making the hole in the cap? I was thinking ice pick plus the tiny round diamond file until just big enough for the tube? I've used that to make holes in some kitchen stuff I have and it has worked well. Or do you have better suggestions? I know people have mentioned scissors but that doesn't seem like it would work that well to me.

+1^^^^
11/64" drill bit - make a little starter hole with pin or nail so the drill bit will drill perfectly straight down with no travel.

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
For the people suggesting drills - will it work without a vise or something to keep the cap in place? I keep envisioning it just spinning around because the caps are so tiny and light.

I did mine by hand I highly recommend using a drill several of the pics I've seen of people complaining of a leak they've obviously used scissors or the likes and have jagged off round holes a drill will make the best hole just make sure you get all the burrs off as they can cause a leak too

Thank you all for coming up with and testing out this great idea! I couldn't imagine adding to the perfection of my Mini and Woodvile 18490 but a 6 ml bottle sounds amazing. Just ordered from EBay.

I understand about drilling but want to clarify something. Have folks been having success using the top that comes with the 6ml? Also, has it worked to transfer the Orings from original cap. Thanks for baring with me....long, wonderfully informative thread :)

MoN, I shed a tear for you but don't loose hope. We have a little store and you can't believe the stuff folks leave behind but are able to re-claim when they remember where they left them. My favorites are a kid's mouth retainer and a wad of dough ($300). I still grieve for the baby doll that was never claimed :(.

I had to set up piper rough and fast when I got home last night. New rayon wick, Philips head screwdriver through a new cap, new tube, new .9 coil...
I think what it miss most of all is my little crappy shorty wide bore drip tip lol

I would keep an eye on your local Craigslist and Ebay in case the person who "found" your woody tries to sell it. Most people have no clue what a Woodvil is or the need for one and would probably try to get a quick buck for it!

I used the cap that came with the bottle (red). No O ring was used. 11/64" drill used and no leaking in any of them.

The O-ring on the original set-up is mainly there to take up the room from the dripper tip which is removed.

The cap would not screw down tight on those bottles with the dripper tip removed without something filling the void.

There are millions of bottles with plastic caps that never leak .... with no need for an o-ring.

No o-rings necessary. You'll see when you get them. They seal differently than the ones we're using now. The ones that come with the REOs have a dripper tip, so when you remove that, the bottle no longer seals....hence the need for the o-ring. These are tight when they're screwed down, so no need for an o-ring.

Edit: Tim, we were saying the same thing at the same time. :)

Thanks to every one for the research, information, links, sweat, and tears to track down these little square bottles. I ordered a couple of packs of bottles from the amazon link. Received them today, drilled a 5/32" hole in the cap, used a lexan reamer to clean the excess plastic around the drilled hole. Installed and works great not a drop and squonks much easier in the mini. Thanks again.

You'll LOVE having 6ml!!! After awhile you stop and think, how the heck did I deal with 3ml bottles???
The little things that makes life just a little better. :)
I agree, Rudy. Having 6 ml bottles for the Minis and the Mini 2.1s is just soooo handy. I'm really using my baby REOs a lot more lately. I also got a couple of the Vapage 9 ml bottles for the Grands, and that's pretty neat, too.
