I understand that stainless steel wire has been discussed in another thread but I would like to narrow things down a bit and see what other people's experiences with this wire when using temperature control.

I have brought some SS 316 wire from fasttech in 0.22mm to 0.30mm sizes.
And I was wondering what is the best gauge wire to use.
I also like to use twin coils in my atty's.

I am using a DNA200 board mod, and I'm not really sure what the best setings to use.
I have uploaded a profile for SS from the steam engine site, but what are the most ideal temepatures to set the device to, and also the best voltages, and of course what are the safe settings for this type of wire?

And thanks if anyone can help me out. :)

I hope you're not actually building coils with 30 mm (3 cm) wire :)

Can't help you out as I haven't used ss, but hopefully bumping the thread will bring in people who can.

Whoops !! Where did that decimal point disappear too? :D

But thanks for the Bump :) But it looks like I have wasted my time asking :(

Time for this I think :tumble:

I've been using SS316l and have had good results as of now. I was using the crown tank and the triton with their SS coils and they worked but was a little jumpy. It did give me a good vape but as of last night I did a dual coil 26 gauge on my goblin mini, ohms were at .23 or so and I'm very happy. I have the temp around 420 / 440 with 100w preheat at 50 or 60 watts. The temp doesn't seem to be quite like regular temp control wires, it always gets very close to temp then regulates to keep the vape very consistent. I never see temp protection pop up like you would on ni200 or ti. By the way I've found that making contact coils seems to work better as far as I've seen, I've made both just had much better results. I pulsed them kinda similar to kanthal just with lighter pulses. Hope it helps. I'll be playing around with SS this weekend so hopefully will be learning more.

Thanks @Rockwell222 , I've been using 26 gauge on my Aqua V2 and so far it's been working a treat, I've set mine at only 400F and preheat at 25w and this is on a coil running at 0.37 ohms.

What I do like about this SS wire is that it can be used with or without a TC mod. :)

And to answer your question @KenD , I know SS wire has been discussed beyond ni200 thread, but I just wanted to narrow it down to just SS wire, as I believe that SS wire maybe the ideal wire for both TC and non TC devices without the slight misgivings of nickel or titanium wire. I know that this thread may not be the ideal place for that discussion, but I would like to see a thread go up just for the discussion of SS wire alone. :)

That thread can be a real chore to go through, and it's true that a more dedicated thread for ss in temp use is needed. Something I've read there is that nife70 and nife52 might be the optimal wires for tc. Apparently its supposed to work for vw as well (if I remember correctly). Myself, I'm happy with titanium for now, and even use my tempered ni200 from time to time :)

I got some NiFi 70 wire from Zivipf and although it worked okay to a point and found Titanium performed better on the Dna200 board, but maybe it's just me but I find that I get an even better vape on SS wire, plus it's a lot easy to work with. Also I be interested in how SS 430 wire performs, that might be my next purchase :)

I'm with you guys on that one. SS needs its own thread so it can get some much needed atention.

I hope one get's started as it's my mainly used wire at the moment, especially now that I can get the same lovely vape I got from kanthal but with the added bonus of that it's a lot more versatile :)

I've been using the 28g SS430 from unkamen. Its good, pretty much have to twist it up for RDAs to get more surface area.

On a device that has the different wire type settings what would I choose to run this. I have ni200 or Ti I can pick from. Sorry not trying to highjack the thread.

You kind of have to be a little cautious because some tcr curves are quite different, but use in titanium mode and start at 200f and work your way up. I like a slightly warm vape and I have my wife's evic vtc mini at 220f in titanium mode at around 30 or so watts. I really do enjoy going from TC to power mode with the SS. And I've been playing with the DNA 200 and escribe to get my SS coils working a little more efficiently.

If you get a good TCR curve going with escribe, could you save the csv, and post it back in this thread?

The one I used is on steam engine under SS 316L. It is a little jumpy looking when I do the device monitoring but it vapes really well. I'm going to try uploading some of the other SS curves and seeing if I get a more flat line when observing the device monitor. Not sure if it will turn out any better but it's worth a try. And as of now it doesn't feel like it looks in escribe it feels pretty consistent. I think because SS is on the very edge of it working in TC is why some people are having some issues with it.

It's quirky as hell on my XCube II, but gives a nice vape once you get a feel for it. Definitely more touchy than Titanium. I find myself adjusting both resistance and TCR for stainless.

Thank you. Also could you link me to somewhere to get some SS wire. I really think I want to try it, ni200 is just not for me. I want to use my TC but kanthal gives me a more satisfying vape.

Yeah I heard the xcube 2 was quirky with SS but that's good you got it working better. And I have been buying UD 316L SS and getting it from fasttech. If you don't want to deal with getting it from China I believe there are some other places around that carry the same brand By the way I bought 24 26 and 28 gauge SS. I've been rebuilding my stock STM coils and have had great results recently. Liking this wire more and more. I still think I like titanium better buts that's because it performs better in TC.

I have the ipv3 li so I can also do tc mode. What setting would I use it on? Ti? Thanks for your help.
I just read that you use ti mode
