Stacking batteries is an inherently dangerous thing to do, but with the right batteries and mod, the risks are minimal. If you want to stack your batteries, you MUST use protected batteries. Also, make sure you mod is properly vented to prevent a high pressure explosion.
I would agree that it is inherently dangerous . However if you follow some simple rules the danger is very small.
They may be dangerous when operated outside their safe charge limits ( both undercharged and overcharged)
1) do not mix partially charged batteries with fully charged ones.
2) Do not mix old (that have been used for many cycles ) with new.
3) Always use a vented Mod.
Remember that the limiting circuitry itself can fail and can cause the battery to fail.
Also that the battery may fail catastrophically due to an internal failure/short which the protection circuitry will not protect you from.
The risks are however very very small indeed.
use aw brand or a reputable brand and not crappy b grade batteries .you get what you pay for. for those that are cavalier about batteries, there are several posts about vaporites being injured with batteries that went awry. i think we need to all be telling new folks to show batteries great respect. how many times have you seen crazy posts about multiple spacers and rattling batteries? folks drop batteries on the cement and don't give a second thought about it's internal health. same wiith disharging to some crazy low voltage. rant almost over...get a multimeter and do research before just jumping into mods that require the use of such batteries
Why stack when you can boost![]()
Because boosting converts Current ( that is what you battery stores ) into voltage and is not very efficient .BUCKING the voltage is MUCH more efficient .
I just tried a lavatube yesterday at 4.2 volts with a 18650 3.7 volts battery (and a few puff at 5 volts), it fried my LR 1.5 ohms atomizer (it was old) but I had the chance to take around 15 puffs before, these were the most satisfiying puffs I had in a long time. I don't know what's better, stacking or boosting, but I can sure tell that boosting do works.
