however after trying out SS, i find titanium's better for TC (IMO). the ramp up n cool down time for SS is just too slow compare to titanium.
I haven't yet tried SS but your result is consistant with the difference in specific gravity of the metals. Steel is 7.8 times the weight of water. Titanium is 4.5. For comparison aluminum is 2.8 times water. Aluminum will not absorb as much heat as steel before it starts to radiate. It will also cool faster because it wasn't holding so much heat. Titanimu is mid way between steel and aluimum. I'm sure aluminum can't be used for temp control because its resistance is too low and doesn't change much with heating. Would the issue be addressed with thinner SS wire? When I try SS I'm planning to use 28 guage. I like the idea of being able to use the same build on TC or watts mods. I still have a few watts only mods.

Smok TreeBox - same features as the X Cube Mini above, but all wires enabled out of the box, no extra payments. Rock solid and stable little box.

Smok X Cube mini also has everything enabled out of the box. Its only the x cube II that needs extra payments

Unless theyve not updated their website lately and made a change, theres this:

The default temperature sensing coil material is Nickel 200. Titanium and Stainless Steel Coil are optional for an additional charge. Customers who desire them can purchase and active by our mobile application.

The Smok Xcube II no longer requires payments to enable Ti or SS modes. It's free to do the updates. I also read in another thread that Smok is giving a $5 coupon to those who already purchased those upgrades. I don't know how one goes about getting or using it though.

I just got a new Xcube II to replace one I had that stopped working and I did the upgrades for free.

Thats awesome news, finally, they stopped that nonsense of charging for the mod, and then for the wires

About time Smok.

But damn, now i cant mock you guys from the comfort of my TreeBox anymore :)

Besides supporting 316 SS, Ti and Ni200, a TC mod wanting to compete needs user programmable TCR presets and USB updateable firmware IMO. My VTC Mini has this.

ETA Just read the Wismec Reuleaux RX 200 Firmware 3.0 update adds presets. THIS is why upgradable FW matters.

I agree. If a mod doesn't have adjustable TCR and upgradable firmware, it is going to get an "instant thumbs down" from me (to quote PBusardo).

I picked up some 28 guage stainless wire a couple days ago and put it in my one and only kangxin min (early next week I'll have a evic and a cuboid). So I made a .96 ohm coil, about 8 wraps on a 3 mm rod. It replaced a .9 ohm titanium coil with about 12 wraps. I think I'm liking the stainless better although I'm not too sure of that yet. I tried it on my old iStick 50 and it words fine on that too, which is nice.

My question is, why is kanthal still around? Stainless seems to be fine and if it also works on temp control so much the better. Why wouldn't Aspire make nautilus mini coils with stainless instead of kanthal so the tank can be used on both watts and temp controled mods? There must be a good answer to this and I don't know what that is.

Might be that they're sitting on ten thousand kanthal heads...
