Hi all. After getting into vaping for a little more than a year now. And many hundreds of dollars later, I think I am finally ready to explore the world of DIY e-liquid. Problem is, I have no idea where to even start. At least with all the other aspects of vaping, the rebuilding, the different devices, etc. I had friends and this forum to help me with ideas and such. I admit I haven't spent much time in this section of the forum so this question probably gets asked alot.
Is there a one shop stop if you will , for diy supplies? Any recommendations on how to start. Over the past year I have become proficient at rebuilding, coil winding, battery's etc. but with this, I feel like a fish out of water.

Your story sounds like mine. Been vapeing about a year and a half, just got into DIY this month. Love it!!! I've placed several orders already from RTS Vapes and My Freedom Smokes. Had great experiences with both. Also ordered from Flavor West, they charge an outrageous amount for shipping and there slow. Good luck! It's the only way to vape! :vapor:

OK another question. what strength nic. to get?. Do I want 100 mg.? Is 120 ml's of it a lot? Do I need pg base or vg? or both? I want to make some 50-50 pg, vg, at about 6% nic. but want the flexibility to make whatever I want.

I know. I'm already being a pain in the a**. Please bear with me.

Edit. Ok just looked at the e-juice calculator. Looks like it's pretty simple. . I'm assuming I can use any strength I want. The calculator will figure the amount to use for me. Correct?

Yes, the calculator will figure it out. You may want to consider gitting your nic in a VG base 'cause most flavorings are PG based, it will kinda even things out :2c:

i would like to talk a bit about safety.
you should use disposable rubber gloves when working with nic concentrates like 50 or 100 MG per mL. if you get some on your skin you should wash it off immediately. best way is to just hold the area under running water for a few minutes. dont try to scrub the area all you will do is spreed the nic out and increase absorption. nic is water soluble so it will rinse off pretty fast. after a few minutes then you can wash your hands with soap and water.
you should put the bottle of nic concentrate in the center of a table and only open it to remove the amount you need then close it back up. when your storing the bottle of nic it should be in a zip lock bag or two and upright...
you should keep EVERYTHING out of the reach of kids and pets. cant stress that enough.

Nicotine/Supplies/Flavors - Wizard Labs

A few months ago I started DIY E-liquid. Started with 48mg then went to 60mg....now all I order is 100mg.

It's much easier to start with 1 flavor to get the hang of it....then move on to mixing a few different flavors together. The 1 flavor mix can be vaped quite fast. Normally I let them sit for 24 hours and find them vape-able.....some mix them and vape immediately.

Good Luck to You.

I just started out, too. I bought all my start up stuff from Wizard Labs. Nic, PG (already had VG), flavors, syringes, blunt tips and a nicotine test kit, just in case. I already have gloves, eye protection and the like. I wanted to order 100mg, but played it safe at 48mg.

To answer your question about 120mls. It's 4 ounces. If you get 100mg, then yes, it'll last you a bit. At 48 that I got, I split it. 60mls is in my freezer, then I mixed a 24mg, 60ml bottle and put it in a cabinet. The rest, I'm using now to mix. I'll order a larger bottle next time and probably a higher strength, in hopes I'll feel more comfortable about it. I'm glad I started low in mg, honestly. Safety is good!

Good luck to you. I'm learning everything I can think to ask about here. I've spent a LOT of time reading the threads in the DIY section and continue to do so.

Thank you for the heads up about safety. I have been reading a lot today various DIY posts, and all safety concerns. I work in a chemical plant so chemical safety is kind of second nature to me with the constant training we get.
I must say, I have really learned a lot by reading these posts. Many thanks to all.

There's generally little to no need for high strength concentrations and little cost advantage. Start under 50 mg/ml until you have some experience. Some buy base near their target strength and then just add flavorings.

Enjoy!
Thanks for that LoveVanilla. I just thought that with all the negative press lately, especially the NYT article about the "new danger" of nicotine. Maybe I need to get a good quantity of it while I can, before they ban it or tax it out of existence.
Am I just paranoid? I saw it happen with guns and ammunition. My other love.

You're getting great advice here. I just started myself. I bought my flavorings from Wizard Labs and my nicotine base, VG, PG, needles and syringes from Nude Nicotine. I am very happy with my purchases. I bought 100mg nicotine. I would get it in the PG base just because of ease of getting it out of the bottle. VG is very thick and it takes a bit to get it out. For safety's sake, I like to be able to get it out and be done with it! (and yes, wear gloves when working with nicotine!) *Note- some have suggested warming the VG to make it easier to extract, but I haven't tried that.

Here is a great video to start. It was made by our own hippieben from the forums. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmTnTwbO-uI

Good luck and have fun! :)
