Starting fresh

I have been smoking since I was 9 years old, and have had the toughest time quitting. I'm sure almost everyone can relate. I have tried all the nicotine patches and even tried Chantix, which made me nervous and even thought about committing suicide. So my doctor took me off Chantix. I have heard so much about E-Cigarettes and am now at the age where I want to be healthy, and live longer. I hope it will help me.

Thanks.

Alot of people like to start with something that looks similar to the real thing. Ive Found the smoov kits perform well and come with some decent products at a cheap price. A PBusardo Review - The Smoov E Cig - YouTube nice review of smoov kit by pbusardo. Smoov 65mm Dual Starter Kit - Black
the smoov starter kits. Its all personal preference so i would def do your research and i'm sure it will pay off. hope i helped a bit.

another thing to keep in mind is to NOT beat yourself up if you do smoke a few analogs here and there when you do get started with vaping. In due time you will detest the taste of the cigs.
In the case that you are a heavy smoker 1 pack a day or more i would suggest getting something from the ego/kgo line of batteries, they tend to last at least a full day of use or more which will help greatly starting off because at least for me there is nothing worse than having no charged batteries and a major craving at the same time!

welcome to ecf and dont be afraid to ask any questions you may have,as someone will be able to lead you in the correct path

Just make sure you get a good starter kit and not the many mini models that are over-hyped and over marketed such as the Blu.

Rule of Thumb: generally, the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Good Luck

I agree with this. I started a month ago with a mini and it is okay, but I quickly started to get more into vaping and these models just don't have much battery life - that was my main concern and reason to upgrade. I have seen a lot of people post about how they could have saved some money by going straight to something like an Ego. I just purchased an Ego Twist Kit for the same amount that I spent on a Mini Kit one month ago. I suppose some people might prefer something that looks like a cig, but for me it is irrelevant. Good luck!

Check out the Volt from smokeless image. It is one of the few devices that look like a cigarette that have good performance. The volt batteries last 2-4 hours of moderate vaping. They are 3.7v batteries which is the same voltage as a kgo and more powerful than the standard ego. The cartos last a long time, can be refilled several times and dont burn as easily. They have a customer service that is second to none and fast shipping. They are reasonably priced and have 2 battery starter kits from $45. There is also a 15% off coupon. Here is a video that shows the Volt and discusses what you need to be successful, regardless of what device you use. It also shows the volt X2, which is the same thing as a Kgo.

edit:
The smokeless image batteries are the same as the Halo G6, Bloog and Smoove, but they have excellent customer service and are a little cheaper.

Best of luck to you! You came to the right place to quit smoking. Took me 30 yrs. before I found this place. You will get alot of recommendations. I had to tell myself at first that I wasn't quitting smoking. I was lowering my smoking. All I know is if I told myself I wouldn't smoke again, I would have been depressed. But the truth is even though I started vaping with the concept that I wasn't going to say I wouldn't ever smoke again, I loved vaping so much that I couldn't ever smoke again. I actually have tried to smoke an analog and I just can't do it. Big WOW factor there! Never would have believed I could say that :) Hugz!

The kGo is unregulated and gives 4.2 volts when fully charged and depletes to 3.5 volts before needing recharging.

The Volt X2 is regulated 3.6 volts, beginning to end.

I have a volt and learned a lot from Mr. Outlaws videos and steeljans videos. I struggled through a lot of bad products until i found their videos and this forum. I've tried patches, gum, lozenges, chantix, and tabex. None of them worked for more than a couple weeks. The smokeless image volt has kept me off cigs for over 2 months. Its the longest I've stayed away from analogs it the last 10 years.

It actually is closer to 3.7-3.8v and does start a little higher

My error. I got the information from the Smokeless image site and they claim, "Available with the same 3.6v regulation and rubber finish as our VOLT batteries." They may wish to change that info if it is not regulated to one voltage.

I agree with what most here have said... avoid the mini's. their battery life is terrible and the carts they sell are more expensive in the long run that annies are.
the eGo's are a great line and with all the '510' tank, attie and cartomizer options out there you will find something that suits you perfectly (or close to it).
for me the best thing about vaping is the flavors of the juices... you may think 'what? flavors???' but they are great since there are just about as many flavors of juice as there are things for you to eat and drink. if you have a favorite food or drink give it a try in juice, it might help take the edge off of getting off of annies. every little bit of comfort helps when going through a stressful change in life such as this... that and the lack of smelling like a wet ashtray.

I also started with a stick style 808 battery because it was small like an analog. I like the 808's but there are not as many options for gear and not as many vendors available. My advice is to go with a device that is 510 threaded because you will have more options for accessories and way more suppliers carry the 510 threaded stuff than the 808..just my opinion.
