Starting simple

I'm going to attempt a mod.
510 carto based powered by an single 18650. (safe chemistry one)

I was just going to direct wire it but thought about smoothing out performance a bit. Or can I trust it to just pump out 3.7v till it runs out?

I've read about "kicker chips" but I don't like the way they stop working when there's still power in the battery. Would want an overide for getting caught with out a spare.

I've spent an hour or two searching the forum and as I don't know the current terminology its hard.

Primarily I need a small simple 'thing' to smooth power delivery

Then maybe a boost function. HI/LO power setting.
Then a battery indicator
Then a charging/pass through function.

At the moment my design has a tiny cavity so smooth power delivery is attainable I think.

I see people wiring capacitors and things themselves. Can you self built voltage regulation?

How? Where is the knowledge?

Please and thankyou help

The part about the kick shutting down when the current cannot be delivered by the battery is actually a good thing as you really shouldn't try to drain a battery below a certain point. When it is time to change it is time to change. You could turn down the wattage so the current demand is less, and limp along for an hour or two, but this will teach you to carry a spare quite quickly.

It does sound like ultimately you would like the regulation a kick delivers so that your first and last vape from a battery are delivered at the same exact power level. This is what I aim for in using electronics, and I really don't have much use for variable voltage or wattage. I realize I'm in the minority probably, but I am satisfied.

You're going to attempt a mod: Why? What are you using right now?

KANGER PT2
with old ego battery.

I don't like the length of most designs.

This mod I saw on here is pretty much what I want

Micro-stick is almost perfect but wont take 18mm 2.5ml tanks.

So I have to make my own.
