I mixed up close to a liter of unflavored 9mg, around 88% VG on Wednesday, built a new .8 ohm coil, cotton wick, and have been using that since then with a new bottle. Interesting experience.

Even Boba's seems about half as this as this stuff. I am getting enough throat hit due to coil placement, but have added around 4 drops of menthol to a Reo Grand bottle to get a little more, and to get some flavor. I am pretty happy with the flavor, which was the thing I was concerned about, and am getting OK vapor, but it is rather inconsistent give the high VG, in my opinion. I should be getting killer clouds, but it just isn't happening so far.

I am OK with the experience so far, but the vapor production could be better. Can anyone recommend anything? I have been on the Reo / RM2 for a long time now and am used to way better vapor production. I am not sure how a hotter coil will deal with unflavored. I could do a .4 ohm with 24g Kanthal, but don't think that would be necessary. My squonks are like 4 seconds to saturate with anything less than a 3/4 full bottle. This juice is crazy oil thick, and the drags are much shorter. I know I am wetting the coil because I can hear it quenching post-vape squonk.

I think once I have this dialed in, it is going to be a game changer. Less than $50 for a liter of juice including all of the extra bottles, etc. is a really nice look as opposed to buying 300ml of Boba's and Pluid at a time.

Pluid in a Reo? Ouch! I tried about 1ml of scorpion blood mixed with unflavored vg 18mg and vowed never again. Loved Pluid and scorpion blood in a genesis attys but In a high powered silica/cotton atty never again. I had to throw away the squonk bottle and it took a week to get most of the taste out of the hose. Never Again....

As to the sporadic cloud issue I would suggest changing the amount of cotton in your wick. I would think a bushy fat wick would do well if pre-soaked. Dump the drops directly on the cotton before closing the cap. Let it sit for a few minutes before hitting the fire button. Are you getting any discoloration on the cotton? Have you tightened the coil screws?

With 24 gauge kanthal and short draws, my suspicion is that the coils aren't heating up enough. 24 has a lag time of a few seconds before it really starts producing. One of my favorites on an RM2 is a 28 gauge parallel coil, 4 wraps around a 3/32 bit, for .4 ohms. It hits immediately, it hits hard and really produces some clouds.

Pesky,

I am using 24G and don't experience any slow heat up issues, I've got Pluid in my Reo right now and plenty of spare tubes/o-rings for when my o-ring gets all fat, lol...just trying to get through the last 60ml of it.

I use 6 wraps around a 3/32 bit with 24G, comes out to 0.5 and it heats up instantly at this diameter, you will need to use a thicker wick then normal as to ensure it doesn't sizzle and crackle when you are done.

My air hole is also 3/32 and that seems to help a lot.

Now this is strange, I have just made up a bottle of unflavoured and I have just had my first go with it. Not bad at all. When you make unflavoured do you need to steep it or can you just dive straight in?

From my understanding, steeping is mainly needed when trying to adjust the taste. A high amount of flavor or a very complex string of flavor would need steep.

No flavor, no steep.

It's a beautiful thing. :)

When I started with the max VG unflavored mixed at 12mg, I found after a 2-3 week steep the flavor became sweeter and more intense IDK why

I have a Grand dedicated to Pluid, and that is the one I am using for the unflavored. I am not worrying about flavor creep because I love Pluid. I just don't want to drop a couple of hundred bucks every few months to re-stock.

Yeah I got the screws. Backed out screws are the source of about half of my RBA woes. Wicks that cut in half are the other half. I keep my wick ends short. I see people posting these beds of cotton and don't get how that works at all from a drainage perspective.

I am getting better results now. The juice just seems like it is too thick, and the fresh bottle is just mad stiff. Aggressive squonking seems to be doing the trick.

This coil is 28g around .8 ohms. You are right about 24g coils though. I love them, but they are like turning on an electric range. Gets crazy hot but about 3-4 seconds to come to full temp. I didn't build a coil like that for the unflavored because I cannot imagine that it needs anything approaching that.

I will have to try that 4 wrap 28g coil. Sounds like it might be the sweet spot.

I get a metric crap ton with 30g @ 1.3 ohms :D

I like to keep mine about 75% VG too.

Love 30g 7-8 wraps like you describe. For Boba's they are the bomb. Placed low, almost zero throat hit, but good vapor and perfect flavor. It's like drinking the juice, basically.

I am trying to get as much VG as possible. Thinking about doing the dilution thing with distilled water, but I am not sure how that's going to work out. I have a test batch I am going to mess with tomorrow.

Interesting look.

Homie, you have GOT to do the bottle mod if you mess with Pluid. It's a game changer. That O-ring is going to cause issues as long as you are using Pluid and the ring is in your life. Real talk.

I will try that 24 g .5 - it seems to me like that would be way lower than .5, but I want it to work. A 24 g coil that heats up that fast is tantalizing. Thanks!.

I don't think so. It's just that the high VG makes it feel like it almost has pectin in it. It's SOOOOOOO thick. I am loving it 88/12 VG/PG with a few drops of menthol.

I use the same coils for flavored or unflavored, and they handle a wide range of PG/VG ratios. I can't see why you would change your coil to run unflavored. Just run with your previous flavored coil build and see if you need some fine tuning. I'm another one who likes the unflavored better after a few weeks steeping. I don't put flavored juices in the Reo bottles any more, I fill the Reo's with unflavored, and when I need a bit of flavor drop in a couple of drops from a 3ml Mini bottle, and keep squonking till I feel the need for more flavor.
