There is no stopping the mental illness that has pervaded this country of decades. I'm a survivor of 19 years of the worst second hand smoke ever recorded in this country. I had an aunt who was a teacher. We'd spend two weeks a summer at her house. I don't think a moment was spent that she didn't have a cigarette burning. I'm sure that was also true in her classroom where she taught first graders that loved her.

I followed up those 19 years of SHS with 43 years of smoking at least a pack a day, 2-3 PAD for years before I quit. That's somewhere in the neighborhood of half a million cigarettes consumed. Not exactly sure what my aunt died of, but she lived into her late 80s. I still go out of my way to patronize business that allow smoking (nicer people).

I'm luck, I haven't been afflicted by this illness sweeping the country, it's got to be devastating to those afflicted. A life of complaining can't be good for your health.

Either way, this is one that can be defeated and when it is, that will give more credence to our movement!!
All they have to be convinced of is to take e-cigs out of the proposed bill before the election.

Unfortunately, if they gathered enough signatures, the ballots will be printed exactly as the petitions are worded.

The only way to win this is to convince the voters to reject this proposal because it is flawed: It will help to perpetuate smoking by discouraging smokers from switching to a less hazardous alternative, and it will punish former smokers by sending them into the smoking area.

There seems to be some public support for expanding the smoking ban. Maybe if this gets rejected mainly because it deceptively included e-cigarette use, they will learn to refrain from pretending that vapor is really smoke.

This is revision of their smoking ban (clean indoor air act), that removes several places that had previously been exempted, such as bars and (I think) hotel rooms. E-cigarettes are the only non-combustible product they included.

There is a another thread going on this and the link to the wording of the petitions is posted there.
