Steeping Times and an Ultrasonic Cleaner Part III

For years I used MPEG Video Wizard DVD 5.0: MPEG editor and DVD editor - Womble Multimedia, Inc.
And liked it OK. But ... sometimes it would go a little goofy on me and video artifacts would show up. It is primarily a mpg editor so I guess I can't complain too much as my current camera produces mp4 clips and it did a fair enough job on those. With my old camera (Hi8) I used my capture card to get the video on the hard drive and it always served up mpegs that I'd then splice and dice with the Womble software.
But recently I started using Cyberlink PowerDirector 11: Create amazing home video with ease

And It Works Great. I've tried using Adobe's Premiere off and on over the years and maybe it works better on a Mac but jeez ... it never seemed to want to work well with any flavor of Windows I've ever had.
For audio editing I use Adobe Audition 3.0. I dunno what version number it's up to now.
And for voice recording I use this: Zoom H2 I seem to remember paying under $100 for it 3 -4 years ago. It's pricier now. But if you ever wanted a hand held recording studio ... This Is Neat.
I've been wondering lately about how great this all might be to have "steeped" juice in a short time. Maybe this should be in a new thread, but here's my question.
When using the old fashioned way of steeping, the process seems to require some time of open bottles, especially for tobacco juices. I'm new to mixing, and none of my mixes have more than a 10 day steep so far, so I can't verify the requirement of open bottles just yet. If it is a requirement to allow some time with the cap off, where in all of the ultrasonic cleaner steeping is this open bottle curing accomplished? Is it required at all, and if not, why is it required in the old fashioned method?

Almost gave up on the DIY e mixing until I saw this.
Works brilliantly, although my Ultrasonic cleaner could be larger (only fits 10ml bottles), but will do for now until I buy a larger model.
My method (using the Jame ultrasonic cleaner 7000) which has so far 100% steeped all the flavours I've tried is to:
Day 1
- Diy the liquid
- Leave top off and leave in a cold dark cupboard for 24 hours
Day 2
- place into ultra sonic cleaner (with hot tap water) next to my computer while i work and run it constantly for 2 - 3 hours on 8 minute cycles. The cleaner keeps the water warm
Day 3
- repeat day 2.
- steep complete
I mix at 15% flavouring (TPA) but using this method, I believe I can reduce this to 10%. Some flavours even less as they are too strong at 15% using this steeping process
Prior to this using 15 - 20% I tried warm bathing, leaving top off in dark cupboard, leaving to steep for a week, all of which produced that flavourless pg/vg taste.

True. I've read many times in this forum about warm baths, storing in a dark place, and a certain amount of time with the caps off the bottles. So ... that's what I did. And it still took 3 weeks for my favorite tobacco juices to reach vapability. But now ... in an ultra-sonic world ... I get "matured" e-liquid in a day. Tops on the bottles ... and 192 minutes in the US cleaner. That's the process.
As the Tappet Brothers would say ... "unencumbered by the thinking process."
I think as long as you respect the 'minimum' level of the cleaner it would be okay. My cleaner contains a 2l tank. Pouring 500ml in it is not enough to get the level above the minimum level of liquid required for my cleaner. I would need to make at least a 1.3l batch to get there
anybody ever try using the foot bath thing? gotta love dual use I have limited space and really only need this for juice, plus I'd like to do more than 10ml bottles so the cheaper one posted above is kinda out for me.

You think it would boil or kill the nicotine or flavor if I use below minimum level?
Anyone tried the no-bottle-ultrasonic-steeping?
It will most probably kill your Ultrasonic. Not instantly (i also used it 2 times with water filled under the minimum level). But with a too low level the ultrasonic cannot dissipate its energy. It will get too hot and ultimately burn out.
Sorry I left that part out. For my first ultrasonic experiment I alternated turning on the heat cycle. The next time I had to make juice I tested the temp of the water with my finger and if the water was cooling down I turned on the heat. Since each cycle of the cleaner is only 8 minutes long ... it was pretty easy to keep the temp warm but not too hot.
The nic level doesn't seem degraded after 3 hours of ultrasonic-ing. I make 3-70ml bottles at a time. It takes me awhile to vape up 210 mls and the Flavor, Throat-Hit, and Vapor is consistently there till the last drop.
I'm eyeballing this one..
Heater, 30 minute cycle, and a 3" tall tank instead of the common 2" ... very tempting.

Yes that is the one I use and I love it! I'm worried about running it for 30 minutes at a time with the heat on. It says it has a cutoff at 140degF, but is that killing the nicotine levels at that high of heat? I'll try alternating the heat as well, especially when I start doing times of over 3 hours. Thanks for the help!
I was wondering if there was a way to cut the heater off mid-cycle... I guess there isn't?
I suppose I'll start with hot water, let it run however many cycles until it cools down to room temp, then run the heater once.
It already shipped, but I think I'm looking at Tuesday delivery.
There is a separate switch for the heat, either on or off, you can shut it off mid cycle. I started with warm water and it was hot after the first 30 minute cycle, then the heat shut off automatically before the end of the second 30 minute cycle. The water gets pretty hot to the touch! There was actually some pressure released when I vented the bottles after each cycle. This is why I worried that it is getting too hot and possibly lowering the nicotine levels. Alternating the heat between cycles would probably be a better option, it will auto shut off anyways at 140F. It's a great ultrasonic with all the features at an unbeatable price. You'll be happy

I always use hot water to start with. The ultrasonic keeps the water hot, just by running it. So actually you don't need the heater. The operating temperature from the ultrasonic device is hot enough to keep the water warm, even after an hour i can barely put a finger in the water and not burn it.
